Anyway, brake service is needed pretty much depending on the style the car has been driven. I've never had my brakes serviced before 100 000 km (I've hardly done that much on any of the cars) but you can easily visually check the pads and the disc surface.
The mileage is low but the car is old (relative to the mileage only), I would let if have a good all round service just in case.
Assuming a 2004 car still had some recalls but all were performed, typical issues could be batteries (AUX battery too), Airmatic leaks (less on a 2004 car), glycol leak to the tranny is still possible although the bad radiators were not used on a 2004 MY any more. Front ball joints may be worn already at that mileage if they are from a bad batch and have not been fixed by a recall. Probably some other items that you can find from the W211 section.
That said, I assume you got a ppi when you bought it (I hope so) That would tell you what might be needed soon. So look at the report and see what it says (the % of brake pad life left, rotor condition, etc..)
The owner's manual and/or the dealer will tell you what service is coming up, as will the ECU and dash read-out.
