Question e550 air suspension malfunction

Has anyone had a problem with air suspension. I had an issue about a month a go with a bent rim. A few days after that the malfunction light came on and it rode rough. The dealer said the strut was not receiving air and needed replacing. I put a new rim on to replace the bent one and checked all the lines and sensors to the strut. After that everything was fine without having to replace the strut. Then yesterday the malfunction light came on again and is riding rough again. I took the wheel off this morning to play with it but to no avail.. I can't see this being a full strut issue!
Any suggestions???

Is that really a 212072 with Airmatic issues? I assume it is a W211 and you would find a lot of info from the W211 forum.

Do you mean it runs rough but the suspension level is fine? Sounds pretty odd except if the shocks had some serious issues. Haven't heard about this kind of an issue with the shocks.

If the air spring does not have any air, then that strut stands on the rubber buffer and the ride certainly would be rough. But you would see it from the corner of the car being really low (if not more than one corner).

Aside from the fact that this is the W212 forum, and the poster is posting on the wrong forum, could everybody who has technical questions PLEASE LIST THE YEAR of the vehicle in question.

Sometimes people don't even mention the model

It's very easy to put the details of your vehicle in your avatar thru the User CP.

There is no W212 from 2007. W212 sales started March 2009 in Europe and the first cars have just very recently been sold in the US.

$1500 sounds too high for the part, was that including the labour to change it?

There are refurbished struts available too (not from MB).
