I ran a comparison between the 2009 and 2010. The price drop is even larger than that suggested by the MSRP. While the HK Audio is no longer standard, other features have been added. Load E350s of both years up, and the MSRP of the 2010 is $3,590 lower--and it also includes about $2,500 worth of extra features. So the feature-adjusted price reduction is over $6,000.

Comparing a loaded 2009 528i with a similarly equipped 350, the BMW does list for a few hundred less, but the Mercedes ends up with about $3,200 in additional features.

 

A note, and hope for suggestions. I wavered between whether or not to consider the coupe a separate model, and decided to do this. Now I'm wondering what I'll do when the Cabriolet arrives. "E-Class Coupe and Cabriolet" will be a bit unwieldy. Any convenient shorthand that the typical car owner will understand? Might have to go with "E-Class (4-door)" and "E-Class (2-door)."

So, any suggestions?

I really wish they hadn't called the coupe an E-Class...

The E Class coupe was built on the same platform as the C Class - front suspension and all.
