Just bought a W212 500 Avantgarde with AMG-package
Hello,
Been lurking in the forum for a while now; my first car was a Mercedes but I have been a loyal customer at BMW for the past 20 years, and when it was time to buy a new car again my initial gut feeling was to get the new 7-serie, though after suffering from poor treatment at my local BMW dealer I have decided that maybe it was time to get myself a MB again. Been looking at various versions of the S-class for the past weeks but never found anything of my taste.
Was not a big fan of the new E-class when I first saw it at the local dealer but the car has grown on me immensly; so after much considering back and forth I finally closed the deal on a Obsidian Black W212 500 Avantgarde with the AMG-package this week at a MB dealer. I have only taken a short test drive with a W212 220 so far and cant give any reviews whatsoever how the new W212 500 is driving experiance, though aim sure that it will be quite different
The dealer I bought the car from is several hours away from me and I will not pick up the car until late next week probably. The wait is killing me.
I dont know about elsewhere but this is top of the line in the W 212 range here in Scandinavia, this example being very well equiped as well and realizing the rarity of it I simply could not let it go, so aim a happy new owner of a 2010 Osidian Black W212 500 Avantgarde with the AMG-package.

Congrats for the purchase.
Waiting a week is not much, I had to wait 8 months for the 221.
What was the interior colour? What options do you have? The E500 is currently the top model but it actually does not have a lot more options standard compared to other models, mainly Elegance for a baseline, Airmatic suspension and 3-zone AC. Those are available as options for any smaller engine car (in Europe at least).

Aim not sure what the interior is called in english, here in Sweden its called "naturbeige" (€2000 option in Sweden); this car is pretty much fully-loaded as MB Sweden had intended to use it at the offical launch of the W212
I guess you could get the same equipment on a E220, though its still not quite the same thing. And I think the W212 looks crap without the AMG-package, the W212 are becoming a popular car used by taxi companies and I have seen plenty of W212 here in Sthlm already; it simply does not look good at all.

Many thanks everyone, it wont be long now until I pick up my new car; my dealer phoned me yesterday and told me that I should probably be able to pick up the car on monday, the wait is killing me!
Yes, the interior is very unique and has a "warm" tone I think; they had another black W212 500 in stock with black interior but it did not look as good as this.

I order one from the dealer here in Riyadh but will not get it untill Nov. It's fully loaded Osidian Black W212 350 Avantgarde with the AMG-package (not Panaoramic roof) with Black/chestnut Brown Leather and aluminum trim. Price here is still expensive USD 70k but compared to low-spec S350 at USD 84k

I kind of like the LS460 and had a look it when it was time to change car; though the local dealer had none in stock when I was there; I would have had to wait until September sometime if I wanted one.
Well, the new E-class isnt exactly cheap here in Sweden; I have had to cough up over 117k for my new W212 E500.

The interior looks very nice!! I'm thinking about getting the E350 too, but I'm pretty much freaked out by their reliability issues in the past. Would love to know how if things have improved in this generation of E Class!

Welcome to the boards. Don't worry about the reliability. I was apprehensive when I got my first MB but I never had a problem with any of my cars. Besides the scheduled maintenance my cars were worry free. I hope I just didn't jinx myself

As you can see what kind of car I'm currently driving, I'm used to a bulletproof and maintenance-free car. I don't expect the Merc to have the same reliability as a Lexus, but I also don't want to visit my local Merc dealer too frequently in order to get things repaired.

I think the W212, even in its first years, should be on par with the later W211's, current C, current S, etc. in Reliability. I.e "Good", at least relative to M-B terms.
But yeah, I think M-B's days of launching initial reliability debacles are (hopefully) behind them.
