Are you referring to the standard audio, or the Harman Kardon? There are a couple of ways of looking at this. Because the Harman Kardon system was standard equipment on the w211 at the end of its model run, it makes the standard w212 look bad (8 speakers, six disc changer). But if your comparing Harman Kardon systems, the w212 puts the old one to shame. The w212 system now has 610w and 14 speakers compared to last years 510w and 12 speakers. The w212 Harman Kardon also receives HD Radio signals.

I didn't try it when did test drive, but can tell that previous HK (MY 09) has pretty good stereo. It isn't as good as Audi's, since it uses audiophile quality Bang & Olufsen, but still pretty good.

For 2010 (w212) the Harman Kardon system is included in the P1 package. It's safe to say that most of the cars you will encounter on lots will have the P1 package. From what I can tell it can't be ordered as a stand alone option.
