Distronic Problems

Hello all,

I just bought my 2010 e550 a couple weeks ago and was wondering if any one has had problems with their distronic feature. I took it to the dealer because the error message kept coming up on the dash. They tried to fix it, but ended up having to order the part. So in 5 days I have to bring it back to the dealer to have them install it. I guess this part is coming from Germany. This is my first Benz and I hope it doesn't have any other future problems. Not that I'm rellying on the distronic to stop the car, but it's nice to know that in the event of an emergency the car will stop by itself.

If you think this is the last problem you will have then I have a bridge to sell you.....real cheap.
Seriously, most people don't buy Benzes for their reliability. They buy them for the style, the history, the status, the ride and some cases the performance.
If you want reliabilty get a Lexus.

I think that is really unfair to say, Mercedes quality has been back to previous levels in the past few years. The last E-Class won best in J.D. Power Initial Quality several years in a row.

Steel.Grey.MB: Congrats on the car, a 550 coupe is a real beauty. Any pictures? Let us know how it turns out, I'm sure they'll get it all sorted out for you.

Those are 18s, but that's actually my E350. I still have to put up a new picture of the 550, but it basically looks the same, just with the Sahara Beige interior. Thanks for the compliment, they are really one of my favorite Mercedes wheel designs ever.

See my comment under E550Coupe: You are in for a challenge. This is the
most techno-packed car around, and most of it is safety related. The problem is
that all that software is complicated and the dealers have little support form the
arrogant / complacent / incompetent importer.

Interestingly I've driven a couple of Lexus models in the past (GS430 and LS430) and they each had a bunch of problems. Things like transmission recall, radio replacement, cruise control issues, seat problems as well as more creaks/rattles/etc. then I ever had on my 550i. The thing about Lexus is that they make the service experience so easy that it diffuses any complaints. When I had the transmission replaced on my LS630, they gave me (and everyone else) a $200.00 BP gas card for my inconvenience and had the car back to me in one day.

There will be some level of issues with all makes of cars that are this complex.
