Hi and new to the board. Just picked up my first MB this week - 2010 E550 4matic. Question is this - I have distronic and it is setting off my Valentine 1 radar detector (~3 or 4 yrs old). Wondering if others have same/similar issues with their cars and same or other brands of detector, or if any workarounds exist to address this (other than turning off the detector or distronic of course)

My V1 did not react to the parking sensors on my 335i, but it's a bimmer though...

thx - yeah my previous was BMW 650 vert. No issue with parking sensors but I didn't have radar cruise.

It sounds like the distronic radar is operating at the same or similar frequency as police radar (likely K-band).

It would be hard to imagine a way to work around this - the radar detector is designed to do exactly that - detect radar. The distronic uses radar sent out, bounced off an object in front of it and returned to the car to be interpreted. Does your Valentine have a way to filter out frequencies? If not, radar detectors may be useless with the feature activated.

Wouldn't that mean that these detector will detect all other E-classes too and will set off the alarm?

Not only E-classes with Distronic Plus but also W221 S-class cars, have a look at the W221 section.

correct - it does show up as k band and almost constantly. I imagine it is setting off other radar detectors as well. No mechanisms on the unit itself that might help filter - but I will check with the manufacturer.
