Fellow W211 AMGers liking the W212

Great read and some awsome pics of the 211/212 E63 side by side.

https://mbworld.org/forums/w211-amg/...g-begin-3.html

The new just looks like a @#$%n BEAST! Check out that front end. No offense but i was starting to get sick of the old bug eyes of the W211 headlights. The new is just much sharper and sleeker looking. Also like the cleaner looking bumper on the 212.

That's weird but now I'm starting to like the rear of the W212 better then the front. Go figure.

The front is starting to look too busy with those quad lamps and the LEDs. I think if they had just jettisoned that 4 lamp E Class thing and did more a CL look instead, I'd kinda like that better. I dunno.

The W211 looks better with a pano, just like the W212 looks better with the pano.

Design aside, once they TT the motor (I think this might be the last year for n/a) and stick with the SL's MCT (and it really should be an option for the 550) then the choice will be W212 E63 or F10 M5 for a performance sedan. Both those cars will be best in their class, imho.

And it will be back to the same thing: does one want the softer comfort MB ride or the stiffer and a bit harsher BMW chassis. MB has to walk the fine line between good handling and the classic MB ride.

p.s., two questions for W212 owners. From the pic it looks like they didn't hide the wipers under the hood. Maybe it's just that pic(?) Can you now lift the wiper arm (to clean the windshield) without scraping the hood's paint? On the W211, they hid the arms but that means no pulling up on them.

Also, the third brake light is now in the cabin. I've heard some complain about reflection. Although I'd guess it would only be bad on a fogged up rear or rainy night, etc.. I wonder why they didn't fit it into the body this time? (although it probably looks cleaner not on the body, I'm not sure yet....)
