I'm not too sure if it's a blackberry problem or not. Does that same address work if you try it from ur pc? this is the basic format - 555 main st 91202 or 555 main st Miami FL

Okay, so here's the idea - I basically wanted to be able to type up an address at times when the car is too loud, or just when I didn't want to deal with the hassle of speaking the address & going through all those annoying steps. So, I came up with the idea of sending the address to the car with my iPhone. Therefore, I setup this web site, http://stm.selfip.net to do just that. All you gotta do, it to go there, type in ur address, enter your mbrace email (u only need to do this once, it will remember it), and hit send. Then hit the "i" button on your center console, and the address is downloaded to your navigation within a few seconds. You need an mbrace account for this to work, but all new cars have it. So, give it a try and let me know what you think. It's in "Beta" right now, so let me know if you notice any problems. If people like it, i'll make a new thread out of this. By the way, the site is optimized for the iPhone screen. I'm sure it'll work just fine with other phones too, but I haven't tested it. Read the instructions on the page, for more info.
ALSO - VERY VERY IMPORTANT -
DON'T GO SENDING IT A BUNCH OF TIMES. Because every time you send an address it gets queued in your Mercedes navigation, and if u send too many, it'll take forever to download all of them. Don't say, I didn't warn u.

Aside: if you bought your car before the middle of November, it still has TeleAid and not MBrace.

It's actually the same thing. It's just that google doesn't offer the Send to Car feature on mobile devices (none that I know of), and they don't even allow developers to use their API to make their own applications. Google is basically the exclusive provider of the Send to Car feature... Soooo, what I did, was to write a server program to take your address and email from this little web page, then manually go to google maps, type it up, select the send to car option, pick Mercedes from the list, and then send it to you car. It's kinda like a little person taking up manual orders and giving u confirmation
My goal was keep it small and to the point, so it loads as fast as possible.
to the Canadian users - Sorry if this doesn't work up there. Maybe one day, we'll come up with something for you too.

so i got the bluetooth streaming to work, one time.
after the initial sync, it wouldn't work for streaming anymore.
the BT syncs fine for the phone aspects and now I get it to connect with A/V Remote, but no more streaming. I was so happy that first time, but after a restart it stopped working. Is it a MB bug?

Yup, after every restart it stops working. Once you get familiar with it, you can get it working again within seconds though. I have an iPhone and this is what I do (roughly, I don't remember every exact step from the top of my head).
On Mercedes COMAND screen
1. Click on Phone, on the top row (it's important to click Phone and NOT audio)
2. On the bottom left, click phone again
3. Click Bluetooth phones
4. Click on External Authorization
On the iPhone
1. Go to settings > general> bluetooth
2. Click on MB Bluetooth (it should already be there, cause you've done this before)
On Mercedes COMAND
1. Click yes
2. Hit 0 four times and click OK
On iPhone
1. Enter 0 four times and click OK
And that's it, both your Phone and Bluetooth streaming should be connected again. It looks like a lot of steps, but it takes me literally under 15 seconds to do it all.

just an update, by chance i had to disconnect my bluetooth from the car the other day and then reconnected it and miraculously the option was there again to stream bluetooth.
So in a nutshell, just disconnect and reconnect the connection from your phone and it should work.

Copy MP3's to HD
Someone way back posted the question but I didn't see any replies - so here goes again - has anyone figured out a way to transfer MP3's from the PCMCIA adapter to the HD ?
Thanks
Thanks

just tried it, worked beautifully. i went through every option of the entire menu. I didn't really come across anything too intesting, bunch of gibberish I didn't understand. Too many acronyms. :-)
i tried to tur on the TV, but didn't see any difference. i was tryin to turn off the SAT radio becuase my subscription just expired.
I think i did see somethig in there about PCMCIA. let me check again tomorrow.

Mid City Engineering in Chicago. Unit sells for just under 400.00. My tech here in Philly says it works great!!! I also talked directly to Mid City and they reassured me it is 100%. Problem is the install. I am pretty good with stuff...but am not taking the dash board apart and messing with the wiring. My guy here will charge 400+ to do the install and has done it before. So for 800+ it can be done and is guaranteed. Too bad no one has been able to just hack some code for it (dont know if that is even possible, but it sounds good).

I poked around and really didn't find anything I could do. It mainly gives you information. The 2 things I wanted to do were:
1. remove SAT from the list of radio options. it expired this last month and I hate having to cycle through them or even having it as an option when it doesn't work.
2. turn up the mic for my bluetooth.
anyone see these options?

FYI, the traffic UID and radio UID are 2 separate UID's. And if you try to order online they force you to buy music and traffic in order to get the discounted rate. But if you call in, they'll give you the traffic for $2.99 a month or something like.
For me the $40 was worth the time saved in traffic. :-)

I just picked up a 2011 E350 a few nights ago and just stopped by my audio guy to strip down my old system. He mentioned that he just did a few VIM bypass on a few of the 2010-2011 E's. He recommended Nav-TV which he said works 100% and takes only 15 minutes to install. No wire cutting.
http://www.navtv.com/product/120/w212vim-kit.html
Website gives full instructions on how to do the installation...but if you're lazy (or scared) like me.... just shoot me a PM and i'll hook you up with the shop information and pricing
