When you open the door, it then switches to P automatically but not before.

A few things , I have just discovered on ECO start / stop system on W212s :
When ECO light on the dash screen turns green , it means it is ready to stop the car . The image shows , ECO is on but will not turn off the engine
Let's say , ECO button on the dash is not pressed and you are waiting at the lights , if you press the button on te dash it stops your car if all the things that activate the ECO function is available at that time
Another thing is that when ECO stops your engine and your A/C is a high speed , it automatically reduces its fan speed to a lower one![thumbs](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/thumbsup.gif)
Today, I read manual and I learnt that you can actually open / close your trunk w/o getting out of the car . I didn't know that ,I presumed you can only pop up the trunk by that button. In order to do that
Just press the button onto the driver's side door panel , it pops up same as you can do it with the remote and if you press and hold the same button all the way trunk lid goes down
Moral of this late edit story : Read manuals lol

Now that you mention about it, I think I do recall seeing the ECO thing on my dashboard and I have the p2.. but I don't know what it does.. Would like to know more.

Another thing, if you don't buckle up or fasten your seatbelt , ECO system never stops the engine at the lights because it stays constantly in yellow not turning green

2012 E350
Okay.. maybe my mind is playing tricks on me. I have the 2012 E350 with p2 package.. would that mean that I have the ECO thing? I don't totally recall seeing that eco thing there, but something tells me that I have seen it somewhere...
EDIT: NVM, I don't think I have that feature because my engine definitely did not stop at any red-light before... Also I do not have the ECO button the dash that you were talking about.. I could've sworn I saw ECO somewhere... maybe on another car

If you don't have ECO button on the dash that means your car is not installed with that system . Then , it also means having P2 doesn't constitute you have ECO standard from factory
I think you refer to another ECO driving menu that can be available from late 2012s I believe . I have seen a W204 with that menu , it shows 3 driving parameters and it gives you points according to your driving style ,sounds fun

I have a 2010 E550 Sedan and thought I would see if I can get Audio Bluetooth streaming to work. I found this thread and followed jinx420hat's instructions from December 2009 and they worked like a charm. I am streaming TuneIn radio and am also able to make calls from the same (Android) phone. Woo hoo!

What do you do when you get a phone call while streaming and dont want to take the call on speaker?

On my phone I can press the "headset/Bluetooth" button, which toggles it off and the call is directed through the phone's internal speaker/mic. Same as before I set up the audio streaming. If the action pauses the streaming, when I am done with the call I can resume streaming from the COMMAND menu.

To Jinx420Hat,
I know it's been years since you provided such detailed information but I had to stop and say thanks. You've made at least one extra person (ME!!!) extremely happy today.

Ok, I just went to my local dealer, and they told me that there is no update for my Comand system. I have a 2010 E350 W212. The production date is in 2009 (I don't know the month off hand).
I have the issue that I have to re-pair the iphone with the bluetooth in the car everytime I turn the car off/on, and I need to use the external authorization.
Should I try a different dealer? Does anyone have a specific code or part number for this update?

From that Fine Manual of yours:
Setting the point of interest icons on the
map
You can set the points of interest you wish to
have displayed as symbols on the map. Points
of interest are, for example, gas stations,
hotels, cinemas and restaurants.
The following settings are possible:
RStandard Symbols
Symbol display determined by the factory
settings.
RPersonal Symbols
You can determine the symbols yourself.
RNo Symbols
The map does not show any symbols.
X To show the menu: press W the COMAND
controller.
X Select Navi in the main function bar by
sliding ZV and turning cVd the COMAND
controller and press W to confirm.
X Select Map Settings and press W to
confirm.
The map settings menu appears.
X Select POI Symbols On Map and press
W to confirm.
X Select Standard Symbols, Personal
Symbols or No Symbols.
If you select Personal Symbols, the list of
points of interest appears.
X To switch the symbol display on/off:
select a point of interest by turning cVd
the COMAND controller and press W to
confirm.
Depending on the previous state of the
symbols, they will either be shown O or
hidden ª. You can switch on the symbol
displays for more than one point of interest.
X To switch all personal symbols on/off:
select All and press W to confirm.
Depending on the previous state of the
personal symbols, they will either be shown
O or hidden ª.
If the function is switched on O, the
individual points of interest are grayed out
and the previously selected settings remain
unchanged.
If the function is switched off ª, you can
re-select the individual points of interest.
They show the most recently selected
settings.
i The list shows all symbols that are
contained on the digital map across all
countries. However, not all points of
interest are available in all countries. As a
result, certain point of interest symbols
may not be displayed on the map, even if
the symbol display is switched on.
X To exit the menu: press the%back

So I e-mailed the seller (Mid City Engineering, one of our sponsors) and got this reply
"Installation is pretty simple depending on your experience. Anything that you can only do in park, you will be able to do in motion with our piece."
Sounds like this thing just bypass the whole VIM system, or at least is fooling it. But for the price... I gotta admit the thing sounds very tempting tho.

So the "long driving" scenario with kids goes something like this. You start driving and turn the switch "on". This allows access to all the menus in the Navi. You plug the address to where you're going in the Navi. Turn the switch "off". The Navi does it's calculations. Once you get to a long stretch of highway, turn the switch back "on" so that you can watch DVD's. While the switch is "on", the Navi will not be tracking your car's movements. If you know you're approaching an exit or something, turn the switch "off" so that the Navi can recalculate. While the switch is "off", the DVD screen goes blank.
Could it be this simple with our E350?

Thanks. Do you know your production date?
I haven't had the time yet to go to a different dealer, but when I do, I will post the results here.
Also what was interesting is that the technician tested it with his Android phone, and the android doesn't have the issue. The BT audio automatically reconnects. Seems like it is just an iphone issue.
