My W212 is American Spec which means that I have the North American maps loaded on my navigation system. The problem is I live in Europe (Germany) which makes the navigation useless here. When I ordered the car, the dealer told me that Mercedes was working the issue and would have a solution “soon.” Well, that was back in September of 2009 and I am tired of waiting.

I have been told that the fix is easy… All they need to do is get a DVD with the European maps on it and upload it to the COMMAND system. However, they are dragging their feet on this issue (reason unknown) and I get little or no response for my dealer.

So, I am reaching out to my European friends to see if anyone knows where I can get my hands on the DVD that has the maps for Europe on it. I have been told that there is a specific DVD for the W212 because they have tried the DVD for the C-class and it did not work.

I would be more than happy to send back to the provider after I have uploaded the maps.

Do you know I there comes a disc with the car from the beginning? I'm too lazy to go down in the garage and check right now...

ipp - No, it is a hard drive for the navigation... No discs. This would have made it easier for us to swap out a disc for each region, but apparently there is faster speed when the maps are on a hard drive.

I think I will need to find a European dealer on this forum who could help... Or if anyone has a good relationship with their dealers, maybe they could see if they could get their hands on one.

I wonder if the hard drive has enough memory to handle North America and Europe at the same time? That may be the issue.

None of these ebay discs will work with the W212 Navigation system. You need to go to your dealer who will upload the European information onto your car's hard drive.
