Dead Keyless Go

System worked fine until today. Drove it last night, no problems.

Drove it this morning, no problems.

Go out to driveway and nothing. Tried both keys, they are dead with keyless system.

Unscrewed the ingnition cap, and can use the key the "old fashioned way."

Anyone have any ideas. Haven't found much on this issue.

Thanks in advance.

Visit dealer, do not try to fix yourself. It is covered by warranty, so no charge for fixing. I guess problem is in receiver.

By Keyless system do you mean the "proximity unlock" function only or none
of the key functions? If only the proximity function failed, then it is likely
your battery voltage dropped below the prespecified threshold which caused
a pre programmed disable of Keyless go.
The dealer will likely tell you that your "driving style" (short trips - which do
not charge the battery fully) had caused the problem. This of course is likely
BS. If the problem persists or recurrs, I would suggest you have your main battery replaced even if it tests
"within specs".

Good luck

PS Since you were able to get in the car I assume the remote door unlock
(press button in the key to unlock) functioned well.

Thanks for the info--very much appreciated.

The functions of the fob itself work. If i have the key in my pocket, and hold onto the driver's door handle, I get "Key Not Detected" and also "Presafe Disabled."

The car is driven daily, but really not long distances, ranging 5-20 miles.

It did visit the dealer this week to try and fix a rattle that they cannot seem to duplicate at higher temps (happens when it's cooler out, right front pass. compartment)...

I'm wondering if they drained it.

I'll give the dealer a call on Tues. when they open up.

Danke!

I had this hppen to me on the dreadful C207 E550Coupe. The dealer balmed my
"driving style" (same style over the last 25 years and over 19 new MB cars)
but after a vailed threat of taking this matter to arbitration they changed the
battery, and I had no further problems.

My experience with gel batteries that
are standard on the current MB cars, is that a single discharge to below
8 volts can damage them beyond repair, even if the charge testing is OK.
My theory is that some of the cars' batteries go dead on the ship and then
they recharge them at port. This can be enought to cause this problem.

The real problemis however is programming the system to disable Keyless go at
this slight voltage drop. I expect someone at MB will one day wake up from
theis corporate stupor and read these posts....
