Multifunction display message

The "Attention Assist" icon remains constantly visible beneath the outside temperature readout on the multifunction display. Is there any way to clear the icon off the display or is it inoperative and need to be taken into the dealer. New vehicle under warranty, with only 1500 miles driven.

You mean the Coffee Cup icon?

If it's there, it just means that the Feature is activated (for whenever it may need to come in handy). You can always turn Attention Assist off, but that'd be pretty asinine to me.

It's easy to take/shut off. Use the menu/arrow keys on the left side of the steering wheel. You'll see several other things you can check like tire pressure & maintence schedule. The wife likes it on only because she's crazy for starbucks & loves the coffee icon.

Yes, I am referring to the "coffee cup icon". I have no intention of "deactivating" the assist. My question simply was that it was not present on the multifunction display, now it is, and is this a dealer matter, or can it be cleared without deactivating the assist. It would be "asinine", I totally agree. According to the MB owners manual, it indicates a problem and I was hoping to gather information in the event I had to take in to the dealer.

Where in the manual did you find that the small coffee-cup icon indicates a problem? It is the same with other assistance features where the small icon indicates that the feature is on. If you wanted to have the feature on without the icon being shown, you would have to check the setting every time you start driving (if someone else had turned it off).

It is the bigger icon that is the actual warning, either you are confused with the messages or your preference is something that does not match MB design requirements.

Diesel Benz: Confused !! You hit it right on the mark. I re-read the section pertaining to "Attention Assist" and finally understood. Greatly appreciate your reply and getting me re-focused. This is my first Mercedes Benz and obviously I have a great deal to learn. Thank you for answering my post and enhancing my MB knowledge.
