W212 Under Floor Service Campaign...
Just returned from my local MB dealer who was required to perform several updates; one involving an "under-floor service campaign" and a second involving updates to the front "SAM" (signal acquisition module). The under floor inspection involves removing access covers from the driver's underside and replacing hardware with new nuts, shims, and the applicatoin of anti-corrosive sealant. The procedure takes about one hour +. I believe the SAM is flashed to the latest codes.
Anyone else have this work performed?
Apparently MB inspected some new E-Class chassis and identified galvanic action on some of the under-floor hardware. So I would expect many owners are soon to get the notice, or MB will do the work on your next visit - all warranty of course. Note this is not a recall, just a service campaign / update that doesn't get tagged with the dreaded R-word.
