E350 4matic - NOISE
Hi All,, My 2010 E350 4matic was produced in March 2010 and currently had 4500km.. I am having 2 noise related problem..
1: Since day 1, myself and my passengers can heard some noise when driving speed around 30-40km.. It is similar to those noise that when you turn off your car after an hour of driving...(cracking sound from muffler..etc) As the cabin was very quiet, it is odd when u hear those heat expansion type noise inside the car... 1st, i thought was from the rear passenger shelf or trunk,, but I think it is from under the car... exhaust or drive mechanism
2: When I stop at traffic light with transmission in "D",, sometime I may heard a loud "pop" noise around the front of driver/passenger area... it's underneath as well. The sound is something like when you close the door... am not sure it is from the drive shaft or transmission.
I called MB service,, and the Services Adviser said he never heard that kind of complaint in W212s... any experience in this Forum Friends ?

Noise.
I have several noise generators in the W212. First noise is a rattle in the front right--you can hear it in cooler weather (around 70 degrees). Extremely annoying.
There's a rattle near the sunscreen/back of the headliner.
There's a major annoying banging sound coming around both rear doors when you hit bumps.
It's obvious benz cheapened this car. shut the rear door and watch the trunk's sheetmetal vibrate. Rain sounds like it's going to penetrate the roof.
It has visited the dealer 4x for noises--They can't "duplicate" it....my arsch.
The W212 build quality is extremely poor compared to the W211. The expansion from cooler to warmer weather is hillarious--I've never heard a car make more noise than this car.
The SA's are lying and can't/don't want to fix these problems. A 60K car shouldn't have these problems.

You should should go to a different dealership for service. My 2010 is eleven months old and is as tight as the day it rolled off the assembly line. There is not a squeak or rattle. I must call a time out on your claim that you can see the sheet metal vibrate when you close the door.

They've said "we could make the problem worse if we tear the dash apart." "Just turn up the radio."
Go to the passenger right rear, and give the door a decent close. Not slamming, not pressing it lightly, and the decklid vibrates.
Say as you want, but mine vibrates. We've already seen the posts here how MB cheapened out the car....look at your trunk.
I'm glad your car is tight as a drum, but mine's not.
I have the AMG sport pack & 18" AMG wheels....maybe your car doesn't. I do think the non-AMG versions are more quiet since they don't send shockwaves through the cabin when you hit bumps.
After having the car of 6 months, it's highly disappointing compared to my previous E350.
