MB Extended warranty
I'm picking up my 2011 E550 next week. I am considering the extra 20,000 mile/2 year extended Mercedes-Benz warranty for $3,000. Has anyone analyzed this and have an opinion as to whether it is worth it? I will keep the car until at least 70k miles.

Then again, I just paid close to $4K for an extra 2 years and 25K miles on a 3rd party Western General warranty on an '07 GL 450, so by that comparison, the $3K seems reasonable.
If you KNOW you're going to keep the car until at least 70K miles, I guess I'd lean towards buying the extra warranty.

Im with you. I dont know if it's a good deal? I plan on keeping the vehicle for 7-8 years. Thoughts?

Hello-If it helps any, I can tell you that a price of $2,900 for an additional 3 years (7 years total, 25,000 extra milles (75,000 miles total) is a very good buy.
There is now a 15 % up charge (non negotiable) if you buy the MB ELW extended warranty after 30 days of buying the car, so keep this in mind.
Dealer cost (excluding the 15 % surcharge after 30 days) on a 2010 E550 (not sure if it went up for a 2011 ?) was in the 2600/2700 $ range, so at $2900 it is a very fair buy from an authorized MB dealer for this (above) extended MB factory warranty .

I am considering buying an e550 also and wanted to know if there is more than one extended warrenty? or is there only one to choose.......seems like the extention would need to have some important stuff included

$3000 for 2 yrs sounds steep plus you're getting a new car. Looks like they want every dime out of you. For reference we got our cpo ML not long ago. Paid $3400 for additional 2 yrs upto 100K miles. So with ramaining warranty, cpo, and extended warranty that's 4 yrs.
