Trust Issues
I wanna know.
Who trusts the dealer when they take the car in for service?? I have seen a few folks with the black box, the V1, laser jammers...........but what I'd like to know is who has the surveillance UNDER their car for when it goes for service?? That way you could see what they are doing and know whether or not they're taking you for a ride on charges........yeah, I trust no one, and certainly not a bunch of dudes living off MY car coming in to be worked on.....

so, anyone ever considered this or currently doing it?
However, I'm very paranoid when servicing my NSX. Yes, it's been know where service techs would take it out for joy rides etc. Crashing it in some cases.
I've had extra scratches when servicing my previous M45. So no I do not trust them, but we don't really have a choice do we.
car I have now (s40), I just wrote a huge gripe blog on the s40 forum LOL..........
I have a collection of parts from pretty much ALL my cars ever...........LOL
I'm sure they'll be upset about it, but for my piece of mind, it's worth it.

If I bring it up, and a Dealer/Shopman gives me guff, I'll just take it somewhere else. I'm happy to admit that I'm an O.C.D freak that demands perfection!
As for the treatment of cars in for service, my dealership does the walk around when you bring the car in as well. They note any scratches, dings, or curbed wheels on the paper and I then have to sign off on it. If anything has happened to the vehicle while in their care, I then have that sheet to fall back on. I have complete faith in my dealership and the mechanics in the back, I can't say the same for the kids they got washing the cars though lol. Guess you can't win them all.
I suppose if you are really paranoid you could make discreet score marks on certain parts that would be easy to swap like alternator, radiator, abs unit, battery, etc so you can check afterwards.
yep, I'm a paranoid ****............
I've had plenty of experiences to create this outcome.........
first I'll try............then I might trust.............
I hope that my stereotypes of dealers gets proven wrong........
Funny story that for some won't be: a buddy of mine parks in a garage in NYC (not te same one i do). For years he would always be annoyed that his radio stations were always changed when he returned to his car at the end of the day. He just figured that was the "price" of dealing with NYC garages until the day he found a half eaten mcdonalds sandwich and fries in his center console.
We, being enthusiasts, will obviously put extra attention to these things, which is the price of car-enthusiasm, as it indeeds makes car ownership part fun, and majorly part stress.
Whenever people give their stuff to other people to fix/handle/etc., it's always a potentially stressful situation.
My friend used to work at a Dry Cleaners when he was younger. The horror stories of fights, and rude/demanding/unreasonable customers was atrocious. His Boss told me; "Whenever you handle other people belongings, it can always end up a very tense situation", which always stuck with me. Of course, the CUSTOMERS certainly have their side and argument too.

I can give a crap about clothes stuff, I just throw my stuff in the wash, and hope it all lasts and stays good looking for a long time. I guess the stress I save from there, can go into cars.
Valets on the other hand are entirely a different story.
F-er's damaged my cars and didn't tell me about it.
Never Valet dudes.
some of my thoughts and feelings on this matter........I'd still like to have some sort
of surveillance for these reasons.....hehe, it would help me sleep better at night.....
