Which OEM hood emblem to replace stock stand up star?

Does anyone know for fact which OEM flat hood emblem can be used to replace the stock stand up star on the 2011E? I got the stock star off no problem and put on the non-oem one I got and it does not sit flush, looks cheap and plastic. I am willing to go to a local MB dealer to get the part if someone knows exactly what it is - C class, ML???? Thanks!!

I guess this is just impossible. Nobody seems to know, but it would only make sense that one of the following is a perfect match - E350 coupe, C300/350 sport, GLK, or ML. These all have flat badges of varying diameters and you would THINK that one fits in the divet of the E350 hood perfectly....but maybe I am wrong.

I guarantee that the dealer will know. I bet they even have phones there so you can call instead of visit, but I'm not going to guarantee that.

I have called two dealers and neither one knows which, if any, would fit the E350 hood.

i believe the 48mm (base) versions fit flush on the w212 sedans. There are A LOT of 50mm versions floating around and being sold as "compatible" with w212, but they do not sit flush on the hood. I haven't been able to find a 48mm badge on ebay, but vic 55's sits close to flush and he said he got his at a shop. https://mbworld.org/forums/w212-amg/364293-my-w212-e63-amg-dropped-hres-few-other-mods.html

I hear the C300/350 current MY sport flat badge fits flush on w212 hood, but can't confirm.

My dealer (south bay mercedes, CA) did not know what badge would fit.

I can confirm that NO OEM hood emblem will fit in the indention of a W212 E class sedan - they are ALL too big and will sit on top of the hood. Went to dealer and looked at E coupe, C class, ML, GLK - they all have the same diameter hood badge. Putting that hood badge on the sedan hood does not fit and looks very cheap if you ask me. If someone can correct me I would be very thankful as I really wanted to put on coupe grill (direct fit) but without a good badge, can't do it. Star grill and upright star on hood just looks dumb.

I put a C-Class emblem in the E. Although it doesn't sit 100% flush but it is almost 95% flush with the hood and it looks very good.

Found this listing on Ebay

it is 45mm AND metal. Hopefully it will fit. For $30, can't go wrong.

The emblem on Doctordel's fits perfect, it is a 43mm AMG (MB puts AMG wheels on non-AMG cars so not sure there is anything wrong with having the emblem)-did you see his photo?

This emblem and the one Doctordel has (AMG metal emblem) look promising.

FTB, I did see that emblem and I REALLY love it both because it fits nicely but more importantly my car is white and would be perfect contrast BUT I just love the traditional blue and silver emblem so I thought I would roll the dice and get it and hopefully it will fit. The other reason is what others have mentioned, I don't have an AMG so didn't really want to be a poser, even though I have the AMG wheels.

FWIW this is the part # for the flat badge I used A 204 817 06 16. The dealer had it in stock and the cost was $25.61 ($24.50 plus taxes). It is plastic and it just "plugs in" to the hole with two spring loaded tabs on the underside to hold it on. Very simple to remove and replace with the original "Star" and switch back and forth. It did fit perfectly, diameter-wise, but it did not fit flush on the sides ("rocked") BUT I was able to just fabricate some rubber electrical tape small crescents on each side. I used several layers until it fit flush and tightly without any rocking. After getting it to fit flush and tight it is difficult to see it is plastic unless you take it out.

Did you buy that AMG badge or Mercedes Benz one? Where did you buy yours from?

See my other post with Ebay link - it's an afermarket one that uses stock outer ring of stand up stay with stock attachment mechanism. They replaced the hole of the base with a star. Looks real nice and good quality.

Is this the item #220679591712 you got from that ebay link (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/M-BEN...item3361875720)? Would you mind to post a picture (you have a 2011 E)? Thanks.

What, no love for Forum Sponsor DFWdude's custom-made, metal flat badges? These will fit the W212. It's made from the upright star, so it's a drop in, flush fit.

Not as cheap as the e-bay stuff, but top notch quality. Folks say it's the very best flat badge available.

See the sticky at the top of this forum, or...
