If it aint broke don't fix it Jon2007E63P30!!! I too pull off the plastic aero/covers and do it the old fashioned way. Never a concern of did I get it all, or sludge, etc...
Extractors seem to be expensive, and maintenance to keep them working properly. Plus where do I store that monstrosity? No thanks.

Royal Purple like all the rest, no better or worse
I used Royal Purple in my boat for a number of years, back about 15 years ago when Synthetics were just being discovered. I noticed no difference at all when I used Royal Purple, frankly I don't believe their brand of oil is any better than Mobil 1. After using it in my twin engined boat I didn't notice any improvements at all, the fact that your engine stopped making a certain noise is far from proof positive that Royal Purple is any better than any other oil, more than likely the stoppage of any noise and the fact you changed your oil was probably because it needed to have the oil changed. On top of all that, Royal Purple is more expensive than Mobil 1. Lastly, back when I was using it I had my boat's oil tested at a lab and the results were no different than when I was using regular Castrol 10-40W. I think as long as one uses a good quality synthetic oil at the specified grade (5-30W) you shouldn't have any problems at all. Royal Purple likes to make lots of claims about their oil, but I never heard anybody say their gas mileage improved, I know mine didn't. As you said, unless you're going to keep your car more than 100,000 miles almost any oil will keep your car going as long as you change your oil every 10,000 miles, personally I change mine every 5,000 because I'm keeping my MB until it rolls over and croaks.

Those are European oils. Some prefer Castrol 0w40 and reference it as German Castrol. It might be slightly better than Mobil 1 as Mobil 1 lost their BMW LL-01 certification, but Castrol still has it. Ultimately it doesn't really matter as long the oil you're using meets MB 229.5 specs and you change it on a regular basis. That's why I wouldn't go crazy finding the best oil, the transmission or something else will probably die before the engine.

i actually wanted to check out prices on castrol , since i read somewhere else that its better than mobil 1....
but the one i really want is the MOTUL oil , but its like 30-40 bucks more , but the guy said that its better as far as protecting engine than any other brands.

I am using Fuchs Pro-flex in my 15 Diesel. Used Fuchs in my 05 CDI 225k miles. I agree with above these oils in discussion are all good as long as they meet the MB spec. Change as the system reminds you too or sooner if you wish and you are on your way to an engine that will indeed outlast the other stuff.
