Options and Configurator Questions; E350 vs. E550

All,

I'm considering the addition of an MB E-Class Sedan. In gathering background data on each model, I was playing with the configurator to build the E350 and E550 with various options. When doing so, I noticed:
  • P1 on E350 = $4,000.00 US.
  • P1 on E550 = $4,450.00 US.
  • P2 on E350 = $6,450.00 US.
  • P2 on E550 = $6,900.00 US.
The option packages appear to be identical for each model, but may have missed something. In either model, adding P2 is $2,450 higher than P1, so the pricing delta appears to be in P1 between the E350 and E550. Could you help me understand the differences?

This should have nothing to do with the wheels and leather being standard on the E550, as that would be reflected in the base price, versus the P1 or P2 packages. I'm not questioning the value of adding P2, as that is the way I intend to go, regardless of model.

I searched for this in the archives but did not find information relative to this.

Thanks in advance,
Golfster

Hi Zinny,

Leather is standard on the E550, but that was not part of the price delta between the two P1 packages. As MB pointed out, it is because on the E350, P1 only includes heated seats, while on the E550, P1 includes heated AND VENTILATED seats. As many times as I looked at the configurator, I missed that.

My question wasn't so much about the price differences between the two cars, but the P1 packages and difference within those packages on the two cars.

This just shows was a great resource the forum and members can be!

Ah, I was conflicted between the 350 and 550......ended going with the 550 as the engine just seemed so smooth. But be advised, the are coming out with a new engine soon.
