My 2011 E550 with DFWdude Star Badge
See pics. I am not sure yet if I want to change the grille, I am not too happy with the grilles I've seen and since I started looking it seems every other MB has an after market star-grille (sometimes cheesy looking) so I don't know yet. But I did not say anything about the swap (visor vs badge) and my wife immediately noticed how much more class the car appeared (saying it looks like a Bentley. See third picture in particular).

Thanks for the pics. I ordered the same flat badge today and expect to take delivery on a 2011 E350 BlueTEC in a week or so. I'm still a little leery about the two round badges but I also haven't seen any after-market grilles that have blown me away yet...

nice, just got the exact same car but a 2010 on Friday, last one on the dealer lot.
Was the emblem/badge switch out difficult? Any other planned mods?

No, but I used a plier to remove the old one/install the new one, since it was hard to unscrew by hand. No other mods at this moment, still unsure about a clear bra or tint, which I had on my previous car. Clear bras are almost as expensive as a repaint, hard to maintain (if you use a not wet enough cloth to clean them you scratch them badly), hard to install on complicated surfaces like the bumper and visible. I just wish someone would invent some kind if thick/elastic clear coat that would absorb gravel impacts... Just dreaming...

Nice ride.
I'm a big proponent of the stand-up star, but the flat badge certainly has its perks for those who don't like the star. The only unfortunate aspect is with the small upper grille badge, you now have 2 round badges next to each other.... Not much you can do about that though.
I'm also really not into the clear bra stuff either. I get the purpose, but to me, they always look a bit noticeable, enough that it deters from the overall paint/look quality to me from up close. Not to mention, when they start inevitably yellowing.
It's a chance to take, and I certainly dread if my car gets any road damage to the front, but I'm willing to take the chance.

Great looking car and nice photography. Nice Job. I kind of agree with K. that the redundancy of two round badges is repetitive (however only real enthusiast's would notice...Joe consumer would never catch it). Have fun with the car!!!

I had kind of feared that the double badging would look odd (see my earlier posts) but I am happy with the star badge because it does not look exactly like the grille badge. At this time I can't justify changing the grille to an after market star grille or, in other words, downgrade the look of my E to a C class. I think it looks more classy this way. The other day there was a S63 at the dealer with two badges and it did not strike me to be weird at all. In fact you rarely see both at the same time because one is vertical and the other horizontal (mostly).
