what are you doing with that left foot??? LOL...........
I will admit the P brake only needs to be tapped to engage......
I accidently hit it while driving once......the cruise shut down and the IC went red.....
it freaked me out......but I've been really careful to not do it again.......

It has happened to me twice. First time, I had no clue how it happened. Its happened only when entering the car. The panel blushed with being all red and all...Never while driving.

Thanks for the input. It looks like I need go and check. I use to apply significant force to engage parking brake, but never tried it with the new car.

I think everybody's confusing the "Parking" button on the shifter, and what I think Dema is talking about: The Parking BRAKE (where a Clutch would be).
I know the Parking Brake is a classic M-B throwback, and it beats an ugly arm-E Brake in a Luxury Car, but I'm surprised it's still stupidly hard to press in. I've literally felt my foot getting sore from trying to press it in hard (you have to, if you want to engage it tightly). Why M-B hasn't developed a more luxurious option, is beyond me.
But no, I've never accidentally hit it. I think they've placed it way out of the way from the regular pedals.

Jaguar developed it as completely electronic. So no stupid brake pedal. However I can guess that adding more electronically engaged device (especially such as safety related) will require some backup battery and so on. So it is why it is pure mechanical. From other side, MB did completely electronic shifter with backup battery, so adding parking brake in the batch shouldn't be a problem.

Never had this problem in 20 k miles on this car. Seems to be in the same spot as on other cars with the P brake on the floor. And I am 6'2 with size 14 feet.

I quite frequently brush the parking brake when getting in the car (but not while driving). No biggie. When I first got the car, it flashed the red screen and I didn't notice. As I mentioned in another thread, the car didn't like me ignoring it, so it briefly cut the power, turned off my radio, and gave a loud and insistent ding-ding to alert me. Hee hee, I noticed that!

I believe it engages by itself without even touching it. The last time it happened to me, I am confident I did not touch it. Oh well, no biggie...it is hard to ignore the RED you see in front of you, so I just press it to get moving.
