I checked out both as part of my testing for a new car hopefully in two months and both the E550 and the M56 are nice cars for sure but one has to decide on how the car speaks to one self and does it fit your style. For me the M56 interior is better then the last gen, but it still has that Japanese car feel, I did not like that you have to reach for the selector knob up on the dash and the usual twinkly reminder tones/sounds. For me the power comes on too quickly and like most Japanese cars feel too light, and did not feel too good about it being a good overall daily driver, I did like the transmission kick-down though and the Bose audio on the seats was cool, but not the active steering, no way my wife can drive that car. On my short test I can feel that M56 is definitely a better corner carver (more road noise and not as comfortable as the E) but I have not yet tested the E550 4matic and the styling is way over the top for me, more of a boy-racer type, looked kinda cheap on the exterior. I want more of a sophisticated car that is well built and engineered, feels solid and has a taste of class, for me I'll give up the extra cornering for a classier car the E 550 is inside and out and the E550 is definetly no slouch, I can see myself enjoying that v8 torque (prefer torque over revs). The E just has that solid feeling on the road and quality that is above the M56, just my two cents and to each to their own, I think one of the reviewers mentioned similar in the test. Hopefully in a few months I'll be a owner of a E550 and join you satisfied and proud owners who feel confident in our choice.

+1. Its a souped up Maxima. nice car, nothing wrong with a maxima, and good execution but when I see it I think "nice maxima" I didnt think the same thing about the previous generation M

Fact... black cars get dirty quicker than any other color.
I had 2 M45, an Fx35, and a G35 prior to the E550. The E is far more superior in every category. I was looking forward to the M56, but was disappointed with final figures. Why not go Benz for the same dollar. This is poor marketing on Nissan's behalf.

Asian cars age much faster, however it wasn't a cause of turning out of the car. Nissan didn't succeed trying to make a cheaper version of Q. Sure Nissan marketing is trying to buy magazines reviews to make up consumer opinion. But I doubt that majority people buy car driven by the reviews.

despite the 420 horses......it's pretty darn ugly.........
and it's also 73+K! that's more than my damn 550.......
I couldn't imagine why someone would want that when they could have this......I understand personal preference and all, but sheesh......

Hey what's up guys. I have visited this site for some years now, but never posted. I just wanted to start off saying that I drive a 2006 M35 sport. It is not based off of the maxima. The maxima is a V6 only Front wheel drive only car. The Infiniti M is V6/V8 rear wheel drive/all wheel drive car. They have different platforms. The Infinit M is a Nissan Fuga in japan. Just thought I would let you all know. Happy Motoring.

The lease for my C63 will be coming up in about a year. I was looking at the E550 initally but the M56S is a really nice car. They're about the same price but the styling of the M56S is really attractive in person plus it's got 420 HP vs the 382 HP of the E550.
