Unhappy headlight sprayers

The headlight sprayers on my P2 E350 are driving me crazy. 1st windshield spray after startup (and every 10th windshield spray thereafter) automatically sprays the headlights. Problem is the high pressure spray gets the car wet and dirty on an otherwise pretty clean car. My understanding is that the prior model had a separate switch for the headlight sprayers, but not the new model. Anyone else have this problem? My dealer says they wouldn't install a separate switch. Oh well!

I'm not sure what you call a problem. In my car light washer sprays after 10 uses of the windshield washer. Count of ten reset every time you start the car so it does not spray the lights unless you tell it to, i.e. If you need to use windshield washer ten times between car starts it probably doesn't hurt washing those lights either.

I agree: having no control over this feature is stupid.......
what if you want to adjust them to spray pedestrians??? I mean come on!!
there are few instances I can think of where you'd need these anyway......
seems kind of silly.........well for my area of the country...........

But they are OFF under normal conditions. They only work when you use windshield washer 10 times between starts. This means they hardly never come ON.

Even if your car is black you woulkd like the light washers as if you are driving in condition that you really need to use windshield washer for ten times between stops you really want to have lights sprayed too. This kind of condition almost certainly is driving when it is snowing wet snow, the kind that sticks to your windshield and everything. It will cover your head lights and for that it is nice if the washer melts the snow away and you don't have to stop to do it by hand.

And after excessive use of windshield washer you need to wash your car anyway...

You're missing the point-It's not the "every 10th time" that's the problem.
It's that it resets every time the car turns on and shoots out at the headlights the very first time you use the windshield spray.

Yes, this is how the headlight washers are designed to work, but only when the headlights are ON.

I agree though, that there should be a switch to manually operate them like the W210 & early W211 had.

That is odd. Mine does not spray lights at the first wash. Only after I use washer 10 times. Actually it sprays two consecutive washes after the 10th wash.

So maybe my problem is that the daytime headlights are enabled. If I disable them, it probably won't happen during the day.

I always have DRLs enabled, still lights are sprayed only after the 10th spray.

Mine only spray occasionally, with lights on or off if I remember correctly. I had a W211 with the switch and never used it (no snow in Texas). Having the lights sprayed when I didn't "ask for it" bothered me at first but I figure if my windshield is dirty enough to be washed then the whole car is dirty and it doesn't really matter. Having the bit of overspray onto the hood isn't noticeable after it dries. All in all not a problem.
