shudder!

I have noticed a shudder when I cut the wheel to pull into parking spots. I know of the power steering recall, but that's about a potential leak. I see no signs of leaking. I will be taking the car in, but anybody else experiancing this?

Sounds like you are part of this unfortunate club:

I'm in discussions about this same issue with my SA regarding my wife's car that has the exact same symptoms.

Konigstiger contributed to the other thread with some invaluable information (as usual) :

For 212.087 (e3504m) if VIN is A148223 or below, and 204.081 (c3004m) A439760, F451473, R111338 or below 2213301702 replaces front axle gear installed at production this “may” be problem.

I was apart of the other wonderful club as well, the replace all 4 warped rotors and pads under 3k miles club! Above VINs don't apply to me, since I have a 5504m. Car is going in on wed, so I will update. Maybe the recall for the power steering will fix it. Maybe I have been leaking a little hear and there. Looks like I amd others are getting burned by the new model bugs. I got mine in 09', so it's a very early one. Still MB should be doing better than this!

Mine started shuddering just like yours right after my Service A and having the work done for the power steering recall. For a variety of reasons, it took me almost 2 months to get the car back to the service dept. By the time I went, the shudder had stopped completely -- nothing for them to look at -- and it remains gone. The SA told me that it might have been caused by the tire rotation in Service A, and, if so, it would go away once everything settled in.

So, have you had anything done to your tires lately?

Before the holidays I had a front and rear AMG wheel fixed / put back in round. That got rid of the shaking I was getting on the highway. This shudder while turning at low speeds or while not even rolling / just turning wheel, has nothing to do w/ tires / wheels. It's mechanical for sure. I must say though, that I make a lot of fast starts w/ the wheels turned. Everyday I leave my street, I have to juice it to the left, because of a blind hill on the right and same from my office. Not that it is any excuse for an issue w/ 8k on the clock. It's an MB and it should be able to take it!

If yours shudders while not rolling, then your symptom is different from what mine was. Mine would shudder only while moving slowly (such as when pulling into a parking spot). Then sometimes it wouldn't, and now it doesn't at all.

Good luck!

Actually checked it out again today, it doesn't shudder unless it's rolling at very low parking speeds, while cutting wheel.
