2011 E550 Sedan
17's or 18's on the E550
Does anyone know if 17 inch wheels fit on a 2011 E550? Tirerack doesn't allow choosing 17 inch wheels on a e550 and only 18's are permitted.
The E550's brake rotors are slightly bigger than the E350 so has anyone successfully installed 17's on a E550?
TIA!

I noticed that the Tire Rack seems only to have wheels for the Sport version.

It looks black to me.

I expect it to be black even with Almond interior. Go here and use the 360 degree view of the interior. Roll up to see the roof.

If you want 17" or even 20", put a E350 instead of E550 (it works like that for both W212 and W207 cars). E350 sport has same brakes as all E550 (sport or luxury, doesn't matter).

But if you look at W212 brochure or ask your dealer, you'll find out that luxury's headliner is never black (usually light gray for black interior). Black headliner is exclusively for sport version ("designo" cars may follow different "rules").
If you realy want a black headliner and black pealers, better change your order to sport. You can always put 17" OEM wheels if you like to. On the same wheels/tires, sport and luxury E550 (unlike E350) ride identical as they have identical airmatic suspensions.

I'm not building your car, so why ask me?

Yes -- my point is that you're almost certainly going to get a gray headliner, because that's what comes with Luxury. Just like if you had ordered Almond, you'd get an Almond headliner with Almond door panels and Mocha dash.
Again, you can't believe everything you see on the MBUSA configurator. Btw, did you notice the caption in the lower left corner of the interior image when you "build" your car? Regardless of whether you check Sport Styling or not, it says "E550 Sport Sedan shown". I guess you can interpret this as "Luxury interior not available", but I understand this to mean "we didn't bother to take interior shots of the Luxury version".
Again, if your car shows up with a gray headliner, which I suspect it will, I guess we'll know for sure.

If what you say is true, I will be really P.O.'d. I really wanted Almond/Mocha and spent the better part of two weeks trying to verify that it was gone. I guess I need to write to customer service to see if I've been screwed.

I don't claim to know everything there is to know about ordering up and building an E. But, I'd be shocked if the luxury interiors were not available for some reason.
Nevertheless, if you asked your salesman if it's available, and they said no, and it really is, I'd say that's on them, and you should be able to order up a new car and/or get your deposit back.
Let us know how it goes...good luck.

I've had black interiors before so it's not so bad. If we could have got a light interior, I'll just have to keep it quite so my wife will blame it on Mercedes and not me

I appreciate your information about the headliner.
