Telephone Cradle for W212's
#26
I know this is an old thread, but I used a Belkin cradle:
and it works perfectly! It's heavy enough that it sits in the cupholder without moving around, and small enough that it doesn't interfere with the cover opening and closing.

I have a Proclip in my SLK for my iPhone 5 in a Commuter Otterbox and it works great. I just use a USB adapter and cable in the cigarette lighter socket for power.
The ProClip is a two part system so be sure you order the right size to fit your phone. I ordered to fit the phone and had to send it back and get the bigger size for the phone with the case. My error. I did not look far enough into their website.
They also have units with power.
Take a peek at this site.
This is for the holder itself:

This is for the mounts. Note if you go for the tunnel mount be prepared to add one retaining screw to the mount on the tunnel. I found this design in the SLK which mounts on the side of the center stack of the consul was easily knocked off by my passenger. It is the way the make the hook to go under the edge of the hard plastic. It is not very crisp.
A retaining screw in a convertible also discourages a ****** and grab if I leave the top down when I am in a store for a few minutes. I never leave the top open if I away from the car.
In the W212 I find the BT feature pretty much leaves me with not having to touch the phone very much. I usually leave the music to play on the phone on short hauls and plug it into the USB in the glove box for longer trips to have the functionality of the Comand system.
Most of my contacts are in the car anyway and Siri, as much a pain to use as it is , I assume can dial any that are not although I never have tried it.

Yeah, I use proclip on all my other cars. But for W212, for some reason they don't sell the one that positions the phone to the right of the center console. I've seen several pictures of the mount posted, but it appears that they no longer sell it.
