Any "special" way to clean/upkeep a Pano? Also, is the first "piece" also glass?

Any "special" way to clean/upkeep a Pano? Also, is the first "piece" also glass?

I remember reading here somewhere, that to clean a Pano, soap and water is the only way (very cool, as it makes life simpler). I want to see if there's any other things that are recommended to do periodically (I know that Waxing is a no-no, but anything that's like an equivalent).

Also, a very dumb question: Is the first piece (the one that's next after the front windshield, before the moving glass-piece) made of glass, or is it black paint? I thought it was black paint at first, and DID Wax it once or twice, but then realized that I was kind of dumb, and that it's in fact also glass (you certainly CAN NOT see out of it, as the interior dome-light area is covering it)?

I treat the pano like I do the windshield. It's glass after all so I clean it with glass cleaner and then apply Rain X to keep the elements from staying too long on the surface. Have taken the same approach with the much larger full length pano on the Cayenne. A polymer based sealant might be better than a carnuba wax for some additional surface protection but not sure that is really needed

Cool, thanks. Yeah, seems easy enough, and I figure to treat it like any windshield. I remember hearing something posted stating that M-B says to strictly not put Wax on the Pano glass. I wonder if that would go the same for Sealant.

I thought the entire roof was glass. I made that call by looking at the white cars with Pano.
From the windshield to the rear I treat it as glass. I just wash it and nothing else.

Cool. Makes sense. I guess I figured that they'd cheap out and put a painted black piece on the front, since you can't actually see through it anyway, good to know that it's all glass!

Wouldn't use sealant either. I would stick with products specifically for glass. I'm a fan of Stoner's Invisible Glass Cleaner. Rain-X sounds like a good idea for a little more protection.
