Indian comparison between these three cars. I found it a little weird since the Jag wasn't a diesel but it's still interesting. Enjoy...

Having owned both the BMW diesel and MB's I'd give the edge to the Bimmer. It's not as "refined" as is the Bluetec's but it's noticeably spunkier. In fact,if a diesel 5 Series was available here today I'd very probably be driving one...and if one had been officially announced (as opposed to just rumored) I'd very probably be waiting for one.I love my Bluetec but.....
Can't speak for the Jaguar...I've never driven one.But it's been reported that they'll be unveiling a diesel at the NY Auto Show next week.I'm going to attend and I'll be sure to check it out.

Actually he used "Faultless" on the E-Class (didn't hear it regarding the Jaguar). He states that it was the first W212 they got and Tested in India, and after getting beaten around through various other Magazine Tests, then going on their own long-term Test, it's been holding up "faultlessly".
Cool Video. The Indians put up a lot of cool comparo Video's I've noticed. Nice to see the E-Class won the test, and that it still holds the Luxury Benchmark in the Segment. Looks like he's not a fan of the BMW's styling as much as the E's, but likes the XF the most, aesthetically. I have a feeling that if they had the AMG Pack as standard over there as well, the Jag wouldn't have taken the aesthetic crown, and the E might not have taken the Luxury crown (Sport W212 just rides too harshly over messy roads).

Why Mercedes detunes their engines to such a degree is a mystery to me. The E350 Bluetec in the E is only tuned to produce 211hp and 400lb-ft of torque. The same engine in the S class is tuned to produce 241 hp and 429 lb-ft of torque. Same engine. This engine could easily be tuned to produce more hp and torque. They do the same with the gassers. There is no reason for the MB engines to have so much less power than the BMW engines. It is comforting to know that my engine has so much excess strength engineered into it, but, I would love to have a little more hp. 268 hp from the 3.5 gas engine is almost embarrassing compared with engines of similar displacement from nearly every other manufacturer. I do love my benz, but, a simple software change could be huge. I wish MB would offer different tunes for their vehicles through authorized service departments. Oh to dream.
