Normal Or Abnormal?

Yesterday I was caught in a stop and go situation in my Bluetec for the first time since I took delivery. It was on an Interstate and went on for about 10 miles. What happened...at least two or three times...was an abrupt and very strong "clunk" coupled with a split second of shaking when braking (or coasting, can't recall which) from,say,15mph to about 3mph (not to a complete stop).I assume it was a down shift (I certainly could be wrong) but it was certainly unlike anything I've ever eperienced in any car I've owned...including my recently "departed" BMW diesel (6 speed automatic).I've also experienced a kind of "herky jerkey" phenomenon...seemingly transmisson related...a few times, also at low speed.

Thoughts? Should I persue this or am I just a worry wart?

I have been stuck in stop and go traffic a few times now. I have heard that clunk, but, I just figured it was the torque converter locking and unlocking. The Bluetec has a LOT of torque. In the kind of traffic it happened in, it was as though sometimes the torque converter just started locking and suddenly had to unlock. I have experienced this in other cars as well. All that said, I would probably have the service department check it out just for your own peace of mind. I would love to know what you find out.

Any kind of loud or "very strong" clunk when coming to a stop is not a normal sound; hopefully you can replicate it for the mb tech.
