What a drag...Paint splatter
So, I get woken up this morning by my wife freaking out because the city was striping the street outside her gym, and apparently she drove over some fresh white paint. Man, it is all over the wheel wells, and sprayed back alongside the lower panels of the car. Of course, she didn't notice this until after her workout, so the pain was already on the car for about an hour. I grabbed a clean cotton towel, a bucket of warm/hot water, and started the process of rubbing the spatter off the car (also using my finger nails to pop the paint off. Two hours later, I got 98% of the little speckles off the paint, but the tires have paint in the grooves and the wheel wells have a fair amount of paint stuck to them. I didn't have time to take the tires off to work on the wheel wells, but I am hoping that most of that falls off over time.
Damn, she said there wasn't even a sign up to say fresh pain. WTF?????
Any suggestions on how to get the paint off the wheel wells? Pressure wash?
What a crappy way to get woken up. I guess it could have been worse. Plus, the car is white, so its probably not as noticeable, but still what a pain in the ****!
To the street painters!!!

That socks big time, reminds me of the time 15 years ago when my girl friends X decided to paint the hood and side of my silver (white pearl) Mitsubishi 3000 GTSL with pink paint. At least it was not a complete job just smeared it in zigzags. Used a denatured alcohol and paper towels and after a few hours of pain was able to get the car clean. Good luck with the cleanup, at least your car is white?

I would use Clay Bar on the paint to remove what paint remains. Body shops use Clay to remove overspray. The easiest way to deal with the fender wheels would be to just spray paint the undercoated sections flat or semi-gloss black, your preference and if their are also plastic fender inner liners just Clay Bar them and then use you favorite plastic detail product.

Clay bar works great. I have used it on other paint issues.
Dang, I just realized that I posted this under W212, when my car is a W211 (2009 E350) Sorry....

This will remove the paint and won't harm your cars paint. I just used it on my cls55 to remove the old touch-up paint the dealer put on.

Great post, thanks!
Well, I managed to get about 99% of the paint off by using really warm water on a soft towel and my fingernails. Since I got the paint off, my wife backed off calling the city and complaining. The drivers side wheel wells still have some paint splashed in there, but I know that will fade over time. Plus, next time I take the wheels off I will scrap that stuff off if I can.
Thanks for all the ideas. I think this thread will be very helpful to others in the future.
