I don't know about "infinite" but I can certainly say the MB 7-spd compares well to the 7 and 8-spd BMW transmissions I had. I think it's smooth and responsive (although I better check the latter when the weather is better, since I haven't stomped on it for a while with all the snow and ice).

I have a 2014 e350 with the 7 speed trans and it is a piece of garbage. There is a jerk between 2nd and 3rd and between 5th and 6th. I have brought it in several times and it still continues to do it. Not a very smooth transmission. I have driven a 2014 e350 loaner and it does not do this. I guess that only some of them have the jerking problem and I know MB is aware of the problem but they have no idea on how to fix it. I just live with it.

I think the 7g is OK. The 7speed MTC in my C63 is definately faster and more responsive. Most of my issues are with the programming not the execution of the gear changes in my E550.

2015 7G transmission
The 7G transmission in my E250BT4M is far superior to the one that I had in my previous 2013 E350BT. This latest 7 speed shifts much faster and smoother, both up and down shifts. The paddle shifter also works well when downshifting.

I have the very same car (2010 E350), (which I've had for about a month) and I occasionally experience a "bump" when coming close to a stop. The first time it happened to me, it felt like I got rear ended. It's happened two or three times, and now I have changed my driving style to avoid that scenario... it was startling the first time it happened.

After looking around today, I found this https://mbworld.org/forums/cl55-amg-...-response.html
I did this about an hour ago and from what I can tell, my up and down shifting has gotten alot smoother. The car doesnt drive like an animal as some have described but it definitely made a difference from about 15 minutes of driving after the reset. Give it a try, it might change how your car down shifts

Wow... this made a huge difference. The car is much, much smoother accelerating, and the rough downshifting is gone too... I've driven it four times since resetting the ECU, and it's like a new car. I wonder how many people are driving around with ECUs that require resetting?
Thanks for this advice!

I too did mine yesterday and it is amazing.
Smooth shifts up, faster shifts down on kick and on the paddles.
It also seems that when I want engine braking it will go to 4t instead of having to paddle down through 6th and 5 th.

No issues with the 7G transmission on my E350.
Car has been solid with no issues.
I agree with K-A about not really getting the new MB look.
It seems like MB is trying to move the design language more toward BMW styling. I wish they stayed with the look of the W221.
