Actually I was about ready to do it (go for the XKR) right after I took that test drive. I like what's on the table for 2012 with Jag and between a FI car (turbo) or a SC car, I'd take the SC. But right now I really like this 6.2 liter NA motor and can't seem to get enough of it. But the XKR could well be on the horizon for me.
Just for fun here are some of Gustav's videos of the XKR. It's a fast car.

p.s., the last one is the XFR

I agree with you about the NA MB 6.2 engine, it's a jewel. If you decide for an R keep me posted, it will be interesting comparing notes.
I encourage everyone to watch these vidieos, thanks again to 220S. Both the XKR and/or XFR easily smoked an S63AMG, SL600 and M3 plus with all the Jag comfort/luxury. I'd suspect the R would be a great race with a 997.2 S. If the XKR ever got a PDK type gear box it would be unreal. I think I just wet my pants

I called the Sales Mgr today, he emailed the rep with my order but hasn't heard back if he was able to change a launch car to my colors etc. It's bad enough I'm shelling out over $100k but I have to plead to get an early one...
On another note...One of the guys in my office building just took delivery of brand new black/black '11 Infiniti Cabriolet and he let me take it for a spin with him, what a nicely made, solid/tight and pretty quick smooth riding car (with 19's) which looked good with the folding hard top up or down. His car had the optional redwood trim vs aluminum which was quite nice. The sticker was on the window and it was about $52k fully loaded. If Porsche made this car (and I know it's no Porsche) and labled it a 968 it would be $65-$70k and have a cloth top.

They sure are. I think the smaller E-type convert they are working on will be a great value with killer looks.

About Jag, yeah I agree. However, what's upsetting to me is that I love *Classic* Jag, and it's a shame that they were so lazy and non up-keeping of those cars, that they were forced to completely revolutionize the brand with all-modern non-classical designs. I like the Jag lineage, so hopefully Tata can find a way to bring back the classic blood-line whilst maintaining the modern themes (like M-B, BMW, and any good historical brand).
It's a ways away, but I'm very interested in how the sophomore XF will turn out, and I gotta say, the XJ is cool in its way, and I think it's a cool car to have released, but I'm not a huge fan of it.

All fun aside, I also really like the Jag line-up. The xf is gorgeous inside and out. I might have considered one but it does not offer all wheel drive, which I need in the rolling hills where I live. I was at an auto expo at the World Financial Center last year and spoke to a rep from Jaguar. He said they had no plans to add an AWD option any time soon, which is too bad, as they immediately loose a huge buying base. I agree with K-A in not loving the new XJ, it seems somewhat over designed and not harmonious. It almost seems like a different car from the front versus the back. But it is a bold statement design and it could grow on me over time. It will be interesting to see where Tata(I can't help smiling every time I say that, which is a good thing) takes them. Ford left them in a great position. I find it sad that Ford spent all that time and money on Jaguar only to sell them when it was time to potentially reap some of the benefits. I would would rather have Jaguar as my flagship as opposed to Lincoln at this point. Imagine a Jaguar crossover!!! RRRR!!!! Regards. Ned.

Interesting. Is it a G Cabriolet? (don't really follow Infinite too much I guess, lol). I recently sat in a G Coupe and I was ASTONISHED at how poorly it was fit & finish/constructed. I could literally move/wiggly the entire arm rest console area. Also, the materials seemed very chintzy.

I'm still having trouble with the XJ but the other video I posted that showed the 12 XFR was quite nice...the wait to hear if I can get a launch car to my specs is driving me crazy!
