Ordered! July production
Wanted to share the exciting news of the build I ordered and had confirmed only moments ago:
2011 E63....(yes I know this is 350/550 but this spot is better)
Iridium Silver, Ash/Walnut, P2 and door sills. No 19's on this one for me....
read too many blow out stories and the like....and sticking with 18's...
Production is scheduled for the last 10 of July and delivery is set for some time in August....thats a ways away.........lol...

I'm keeping it for daily driving....
and RJC: I did consider the black ash but I needed a different color scheme you know? Didn't want ANOTHER black ash, hehe....

Congrats man. Enjoy it, but don't get into too much trouble.
And DAMN! 2 W212's? You are a connoisseur. You should trade the E550 in for an F10 BMW so you can refer to it as your "Beater" and tell us first-hand how much better it is to own the E-Class.
passing on the double yellow........

and I'd pass on the BMW......not a BMW guy AT ALL, lol.....

Looks like the rumors of E Class coupe/sedan production delays until Sep or Oct are overblown? Or is it because it's a 2011 model?
Congrats, Hype!

Hoping to pickup a C63 one day in addition to my E
But I'm curious as to why you ordered one. There are plenty on the floor all over the country. I even saw several with the P030 performance option. With the 2012 now on board and with the new TT motor, there will be major incentives from MBUSA to the dealers to move existing inventory. Your dealer could easily get a 2011 from any regional dealer, and even bring in one from anywhere else.
I picked up my 2009 E63 at the end of the model cycle and got a HUGE discount (paid basically the same price for a discounted E550.)
Are you leasing or buying?
A big discount will help eat the AMG depreciation (which is much bigger than non-AMGs.) The best way to buy an AMG is with a major discount or CPO'd. The depreciation is huge on all AMGs.

What made you not want the new 5.5TT?
btw, 19" wheels are fine on the E63. The suspension is relatively stiff as it is, and the 19" does give you good performance (after all, getting an AMG is really about performance only.) The performance package comes with 19" wheels.
Anyway, have fun with it and be safe!
The new 2012 AMG C63 coupe is the car to get if you already have an E Class, imho. And you can tune it to unleash the full potential of the 6.2. I'm tempted myself.
I like the design, it's like a baby CL63.The C63 coupe with the factory performance package would be the other AMG I would buy if I would also be keeping my E Class.

I can't wait to see the comparisons between the C63 coupe and M3. I wonder how it will look compared to the E-coupe. So many models...
As for the C63(P31) vs the E63, drove both and I felt the E63 was more forgiving/secure, need to pay more attention with the C63(P31).
However, having an E-Class, if I were to choose a C63 to go alongside it, I'd get the Coupe simply for the more stark differentiation and personality.

The C63 makes for a much better car if you're doing weekend track events. The E is still too heavy. Are you thinking of the new coupe? They've redone the chassis and it may very well be the new M3 beater. Lots of great reviews on this chassis. It's now better balanced and this coupe should be a major hot seller.

I wanted a 2011 because isn't this that last one that will actually be a 6.3? even though I hear they are going to badge the new ones 6.3.....
also, true enough....I could have gotten one from a floor somewhere.....but I wanted to order it, have it brand new, and have the miles I want to put on it....I understand what you mean about depreciation, can't escape that,
I also didn't want the first run of this new TT engine....
even though I don't think I got a huge deal, I still got around 7K under the price on the website where you build them.......
and from the the stories about 19's and 20's, I'll stick with the 18's....

But with the new motors out now, there will be lots of $$ incentives to take existing inventory. That's all I was concerned about. At the end of the summer, you should be finding $20k+ off on what's on the floor. And there will be a lot on the floor since people are now waiting to get the new 2012 model.
That's what happened to me (and I calculated it on purpose.) I wasn't enamored with the 2010 W211 and so I decided to pick up a last of the model W211 for cheap. I found one I liked at the dealer (brand new and only the usual 8 miles from the VPC on it.) They had HUGE incentives (trunk money) from MBUSA to help them get rid of the last of the W211s. There are some threads here about others doing the same thing back then (Fletcher Jones was doing $27k off.)
The main issue is that AMGs depreciate dramatically and unless you keep the car for 6-7 years, you're dumping a lot on money down the drain on a new AMG. They depreciate just like Aston Martin, Jaguar, and Maserati (if you've owned any of those you'll know what I'm saying.) For me (I'll keep the car for a while) I knew I needed to hedge that depreciation somehow and so I made sure I would get the best discount as possible even if it meant not ordering a car and getting existing inventory instead.
The 6.2 will drop like a rock when the 5.5 comes out. Even if the 6.2 might be a "better" motor for some of us, the majority of buyers want the new stuff (and better efficiency) and so that dictates pricing. It may recuperate over time (after many years and as a 'niche' car) but it will lose value now.
If I wanted a new 6.2 W212 right now, I'd be one the phone dealing with the dealers all over the country trying to hammer out the cheapest price I can find. The dealers know they need to get rid of these cars. But that's just me.
Enjoy the car, you'll like it a lot. It's a sort of Dr. Jekyll and Mr Hyde thing. You can drive it like a "normal" E Class (and get decent mileage) or drive it like a maniac and giggle all the way. And if you prefer smooth and strong NA motors (like I do) you'll certainly appreciate the 6.2
p.s., you can change wheel sizes anytime later, so no big deal there at all. Do what's comfortable for you now; you can easily make changes later if you decide differently.
Congratulations!! I think that the silver on ash is actually a pretty rare combination. It seems like all of the silver E63s come with a black interior. I personally am tired of the all black interior - although it will show less wear and tear over time. I think the walnut trim will add a nice splash of color to the interior as well.
I can tell you that you will LOVE the 6.2 V8 in the E63. It is just a magical motor that I enjoy every time I drive the car. It revs so smoothly with a ferocious pull as the revs rise -- and the sound is awesome. With the warmer weather, I find myself driving with the windows down and the radio off just to listen to the exhaust.
I made the same choice you did on the 18s. I think the 19s would look better, but the 18s (combined with the wheel design) are just enough for the car. I'll knock on wood as I say this but I have had no tire or rim issues on the 18s on what are terrible roads around Chicago and the ride in comfort mode is really pretty good. Because the width of the 18s on the E63 is greater than that of the 18s on the E350/550, you actually get a little more sidewall which must help given the numerous stories on this board about blow-outs and rim damage with the 18s.
I hope the time passes quickly until your car arrives. Please post pictures when it arrives. Can't wait to see it.
