2012 V6 Fuel Efficiency Increase

The E350 Sedan cannot of course be directly compared to the SUV in terms of expected fuel mileage. However, the percentage increase noted in the table may well be relevant.
Unfortunately, it appears the hoped for large increase in fuel efficiency for the U.S. version of the new motor will not be realized unless/until lean-burn and start-stop technology make it here eventually.
Hope this is of interest.

Thanks for posting Al.
2011 CLS550 14/21 $1300 GGT
2012 CLS550 17/26 $0 GGT
That is +3 mpg (21%) city and +5 mpg (24%) hwy.
2011 CLS63 AMG 12/18 $2600 GGT
2012 CLS63 AMG 16/25 $0 GGT
That is +4 mpg (33%) city and +7 mpg (39%) hwy.
All of this with engines of higher hp and tq. with max tq. at lower RPMs.
Of course we are talking about the new V6 but if the new V8s are any indication I like the direction things are going.
For a better indication, perhaps the new SLK350 is a good guide.
2011 SLK350 19/25 $0 GGT
2012 SLK350 20/29 $0 GGT
That is +1 mpg (5%) city and +4 mpg (16%) hwy.
Extrapolating to the E350 could mean:
2011 E350 17/24 $0 GGT
2012 E350 18/28 $0 GGT
...will be interesting to see how things turn out.
Thanks for posting.
Needless to say, I'm happy I was able to order a 2011 E550.
