How do you avoid door dings?

I've been parking out in the "back 40" for decades. Although it is not perfect, it seems to be about the only thing I can do to reduce the likelihood of the careless ding now and then. With the advent of Paintless Dent Removal (PDR) techniques, I am less worried, but I still don't want it to happen. My reputation in the family has always been that if I came out to find a ding in my car, the car would end up going straight to the body shop for repair. I have the body shop on speed dial on my cell. . . LOL.
Where I work, I have a reserved parking space. I covered the door ding issue by assigning myself an end-of-aisle space, next to the Human Resources Director. I simply told her. . . "If you ding my car, I burn yours." Problem solved.

I mostly try to park on the street where you pull in along the curb.
I park with the rear next to a driveway so no one can bash my rear bumper.
On the front where I could be hit, I have a BumpShox license plate surround that has some cushioning action. They are not pretty, but it helps protect.
What really helps is the armed guard I post to watch the car...

Reading through all the responses tells me that there is no sure way to avoid dings. All we can do is whatever we individually feel will minimize the likelihood of dings in the daily lives of our cars.
Many good hints here, but each of us must decide what makes sense for our world. . .

Do you guys really think people would intentionally ding your car if they don't know you have any reason to do so?
I think it's the opposite and people would rather ding a quote on quote normal car than a luxury car. For all they know you could be walking in the parking lot etc. and catch them. Common sense would say it will cost you more to ding a nice car vs a clunker or regular car.
Maybe I'm an idiot for believing in the kindness of humanity and that "Most" people mean no harm to others or their property.

to answer the ORIGINAL question...there is ABSOLUTELY no way to avoid it. at the end of the day, we look after our cars so much but the next person dont give a rats ***.
thats why i have the paintless dent removal on my speed dial.
