LED DRL's
Hey guys I'm new to the forum. Just recently picked up my palladium silver e350 with sports/amg package. Lovely looking car, not as sporty as my old 335 was, but awesome in terms of a luxury cruiser. I got the car with the impression that I would get the LED day time running lights. Instead of the LED's i got the traditional halogen foglight set up. I was wondering if the DRL strip could be ordered and installed/retrofitted separately. And if so does anyone know how much they would run?

I really like the look of the round fog light/DRL combo. You could call your parts department at the dealership and they could tell you if they would fit and how much it will cost.

I've actually grown to like the double fogs as well. I think only because they've now become fairly uncommon, due to the '11's all getting LED DRL's. I couldn't be happier that M-B are putting the corporate straight DRL's on the new cars, as now the "Hockey Sticks" will be a little more exclusive to the early cars.
To the O/P, not sure, but you should probably wait until the 2012 models come out, so you can decide which LED setup you'll like better.

Well, I have a 2010 E350 with the "hockey stick" LED DRL's. A lost truck re-tread hit the light and broke the bracket holding it into the plastic grill, the light itself is in perfect shape. Dealership said $535 to replace it! The bracket and light are one assembly. So I guess back to the original question, is there any place on the net to order these lights?
I know, I know, I bought a Mercedes, but $535 for a cheap plastic light, man.

Once you get the part numbers you can go to parts.com it is about 30 % cheaper. I priced this for a friend, total parts were around 650 from them for the LED's plastic holder, clips and connectors. It took about 3 hrs for the conversion from round to hockey stick but he couldn't make them work because of the computer (btw they had to use resistors so he wouldn't get any errors), so he wired them into the ignition and it works great.
Here is the info and part numbers (I don't have the part numbers for the connectors/clips), btw you need to ensure you have the sport package or it won't fit:
EXTERIOR LAM $298.00 $238.40 OEM Catalog

GRILLE $27.50 $22.00

Thanks FTB, ordered drivers side lamp today for $188.40. Hopefully it's everything I need. Big savings over $535!!!

Thank you for the excellent information. I have a 2011 W212 wagon with sport package and hit a racoon this past week. The impact was directly over the driver's side hockey stick....cracking the black plastic grill. The hockey stick light is still intact, but loose behind the grill.
Do you know how the DRL is attached to the grill? I can't quite see the mounting tabs, but I am wondering if I can just order a replacement grill and go from there.
Are there any diagrams online that I could use for reference? I didn't find any with my google search skills.
Thank you for any help....

My eyes tend to draw towards the double rounded fogs, but when seeing them as halogens, it turns me off. If I had those, I'd replace them with LEDs asap.
For now, I have the "hockey puck" LEDs...very bright...looks good...can't complain.

just wondering how does this project go, samiii. i'm in the same situation and would like to change the quad lights to hockey sticks. was thinking about getting the parts from parts.com but they didn't have any pics of those items. that worries me a bit.

Hockey lights would look so weird in other rides as well
