PCMCIA slot in dash

PCMCIA Universal serial USB2.0 CardBus
Hi, my C320 pcmcia slot works very well with an SD card adaptor. But recently I bought a universal serial bus 2.0 card with two USB slots which works fine on my laptop (no problem accessing/reading either of the two USBs with music files) but surprise, surprise the adaptor does not work in the car - when I open the memory in the Command no files are found. HELP!

Thanks, but to be sure I understand: you mean use a Sandisk Micromate with and SD card and connect to the USB2.0 CardBus I've bought. But that would be no improvement on using the SD card adaptor and SD card I've been using in the past??

2012 GLK 350--AMG Package 20" Chromed Wheels, Loaded
2009 E350 To 2011 GLK350 AMG PCMCIA
Some advice please, as I have read many strings on this subject.
In my current 09' E350 I have an "SD" card slot (small slot) and currently have a 2GB scan disk card filled with music. The new GLK 350 I just ordered, loaded with all packages, has a larger slot below the command center for the PCMCIA adaptor which is the way I have to go now. From what I read, the over priced PCMCIA adaptor that MB offers in limited and that I would be better off wth a "Scandisk 6 in 1" adaptor and inserting a larger Scandisk flash card into it. In other threads I've read it does not work or that you can't find them (they are in fact everywhere). Can anyone once and for all please clear up this issue and list what adaptors work and which ones do not. Your help is much appreciated! Thank you!

- the MB PCMCIA adapter is overpriced but the updated part does have full functionality (i.e. supports SD HC cards).
- you would have difficulties finding a scandisk adapter, try to find one from Sandisk. They too have an old variant that does not support SD HC cards, SD HC support is printed on the adapter.
- if you are in doubt, purchase a CF PCMCIA adapter and a 16 to 32 GB CF card.

For some reason on my W212, year 2011 when I connect my ipod through the USB it doesn't say ipod it just says usb. And also when I try to read the playlist from my ipod, it doesn't read. It says no files on playlist. Very very weird....

Hi
I am using the Sandisk PCMCIA adapter w/ a 16GB SDHC cards in my 2010 E350 and am able to play the MP3 songs. It doesn't seem to be able to read the ID3 tags nor the album art (embedded in Tag). It shows the filename, but shortens it.
When I connect to my iPhone, it shows the ID3 tags but not the album art.
Can someone confirm they can get ID3 tags read via the PCMCIA/SDHC, and hopefully the album art.

2012 GLK 350--AMG Package 20" Chromed Wheels, Loaded
Just got my new 2012 GLK350 and bought a Scandisk 6 in 1 PCMCIA adapter. Popped in my scandisk card (SDHC) that I was using in my 2009 E350 and it worked perfect. The scan disk I'm using is a 8GB and great. I bought the adapter on line from Amazon used for $20 as opposed to the $100 +/- one the dealership sells. As long as its not a counterfit adapter you will be fine with it. The one I got off of Amazon was listed as: SanDisk 6-in-1 PC Card Adapter ( SDAD-67-A10, Retail Package) Sold by Huei-Ru Gau (colorfuldream)
Check it out and good luck.

That said, from the MBUSA website below. Whether that includes the DRM's iTunes you bought remains to be seen...

MPEG to MP3 using 3rd party software....saved MP3 song to 8gb micro SD sdhc....inserted into the SD adapter...then into the PCMCIA card.....insert into the E350...click on Audio and selected the Memory Card....and I get nothing.

Here is the adapter I bought :

here is the card :

I'm not using Itunes to load files to the card. I save songs in MP3 format at my music folder in My documents and just drag them to the card.

I did some troubleshooting...used my co-workers plain 2 gb SD (non-sdhc) card...copied the MP3 songs on there...inserted in the PCMCIA adapter and it finally works!!!

So it has nothing to do with the converting Itunes (downloaded) music to MP3 or created directly form CDs.
I guess "sdhc" cards allows me to go more than the standard 2 gb?
listerone...was your 32 gb SD card "sdhc"?
Thanks again for chiming in.

Itunes to card
Thanks for sharing your success with getting your itunes to work on your SD card. Would you mind sharing what third party software you used to move itunes music to the sd card? Thanks

Weird...but my new 16 gb sdhc card wont work....also a 4 gb sdhc class 6 wont work...only the non-sdhc 2gb works.

I don't know if adapters reject *individual* cards or not but I,for example, have two PCMCIA adapters...one is the "MB" brand and the other is made by Sandisk. The MB brand,it appears, only works with non-sdhc cards whereas the Sandisk works with larger cards...in my case a 32 GB one.

There are both MB PCMCIA adapters as well as Sandisk adapters that do not support SD-HC cards.
On the Sandisk adapter you should see SD HC printed if it is SD HC capable, the older one that does not support SD HC cards only states "SD".
The MB adapter could be identified by the part number (if it is printed on the adapter).
