Consumer Reports E class diesel test
Some time back someone reported that CR did a report on the E class diesel. I let my subscriptions expire, but have been checking issues at newstand as they come out. No reports on E class diesel.
Where was this report? On website only?
Thanks.

On April 4, 2011, CR posted an update to that on the website, mentioning simply that they had obtained a 2011 E350 Blu-Tec sedan (I assume for testing and a future report, but no report yet). They merely said that it was so popular with their testers that the engine barely had time to cool.
The only performance evaluation mentioned in the brief article was that the car rode better than the 2010 E350 they had tested previously. The 2010 had the sport suspension and apparently the 2011 Blu-Tec does not.
FYI, they had downrated the ride quality of the 2010 E350 sedan a bit as compared to the W211, due to that sport suspension.
They thought the Blu-Tec was a great looking car, but lamented the fact that the "lofty" price did not include leather as standard, although the tex was nice.

Thanks for the information. One of the reasons I bailed on CR was that I could not get them to explain how they award points on car reviews. Also, I thought it unreasonable to drop M-B E class about 10 points based on perceived "ride" alone, although I couldn't get them to say that was the reason. At the same time, they were giving Lexus LS and Genesis very, very high points.
While the Luxury does ride better than the Sports, which is why I got Luxury, I doubt it is as significant as CR says.
