I'm considering assuming the lease on a friend's 2010 E350, with an eye towards purchase at lease end. He assures me it's a 4Matic, although there's no badge on the trunk lid. Any way to verify with the VIN? WDDHF5GB4AA031257

According to the EPC, it's RWD!

You friends car is a 212.056 (RWD, E350) vs, 212.087 (4matic, E350)

Do they also assure you of it's genuine leather upholstery?

My EPC subscription has expired, and I have not been able to renew (site keeps responding "SORRY: THERE WAS AN ERROR PROCESSING YOUR TRANSACTION. PLEASE TRY AGAIN LATER.")

I'm confident my friend believed he was leasing a 4Matic, as that's what he's had for the 210 & 211 models. I suspect his salesman told him whatever was necessary to close the deal.

No matter, if your friend knew or didn't know about it not having 4Matic (but really how could he not?), it's always good to be thorough & check things out for yourself! Wouldn't that have been a surprise for you come winter!

I guess this is a good example why you don't sell or buy cars from friends or relatives.

Yes, that is the correct chassis code for a E550-4M.

We never discussed the interior. I just assumed it was leather.

it's just a tad contradicting isn't it?
I get it though.....nice car, but not concerned about
the appearance......hopefully at least the upkeep and wear and tear,
but I guess that suceeds to leasing eh? I've never leased anything before
