Gaps in rear bumper
#26
So just looked at my cars bumper. The passenger side is perfectly flush and tight (well, as tight as it can be, considering that if you push it in, you notice that there are no clips on the bottom ends.... But it's flush and tight), and my drivers side pops out just a tad, but not enough to annoy me. So I guess my car doesn't really have this problem, although it could be better.

My car came flush and tight then out of nowhere the gaps widened. if not now eventually it can occur. I hope it does not get any worse for some of you who have flares because its a pain in the #ss to get fixed.

Actually, if mine becomes worse so that the protrusion is huge, then I think MB would have to fix it. When I spoke to the dealer, they said the gap and protrusions happen when parking the cars. They often hit poles and what not, but since they have foam pads on the fences and poles, there is no visible damage. However, the impact on the rear bumper deflects energy around to the tail lights, where the panel ends. That is where the protrusion comes from, pushing on the rear bumper. What I don't understand is why can't the dealer at least try to fix it! THey just said its normal. Only 2 out of 14 cars on the lot had this problem. This time, I'm going to go to the service department (although I think they may have scratched the underside of my new bumper on their steep inclines) at the dealer where I bought the car and see if they can do something.
Not to mention, my sun visor is misaligned and the rear dome light fused after 2 weeks.
Please people, chime in if you have the gap or not! It will make me and the others feel less horrible about it.

2/14 cars come on man your dealer is not cool. So lets say they bumped your car or they claim you did, the brackets are 25$ each. And whats this that the cars flares at tjat spot in case of rear ends. Nicemdesign flaw. Crappy design mechanism om tje brackets. BS. If they keep resisting repair i suggest going to an imdependent body shop and for about two hundred your problem, will be resolved (assuming your bracket broke) when the car was hit. If you get nowhere, call jim baileys body shop in poplar bluff, missouri, tell him your a friend of Dr Mir and ask him exactly what he did to fix it, because honestly im not sure. Jim is the owner and a very nice guy he will help you. I feel your pain its sight for sore eyes. Oh look i bought this 65k car and it looks worse than a kia? Btw i hate ipad to hard to fix typos.

Yes my 09 has an annoyingly large gap along half of the length of the seam on the right side. I complained about it the first year I owned the car but they just basically said it is normal and get over it. It has always bugged me looking at that. Turns out it was just one of the first examples that these cars are not build like a Mercedes used to be.

My 13 CLS had the same issue and so does my 15 CLS. My wife's E350 was OK but her 15 E400 has the gap issue.
That being said, I have solved the problem. Stop looking at it.

it is because of tabs or clips that are defective.
i tired fixing it a few years back , actually did align them pretty good , but then after some time (around a month maybe or even less) i notced that it gotten worse.
it was covered under factory warranty if i recall right , otherwise the whole bumper needs to be changed. shidd sucks
