Dude. Just got back from the Baltimore Indy Grand Prix. Awesome doesn't even come close to surmising it. Wow, wow, wow. Regardless, I was looking forward to getting back in my car when I got home. Still love it Sorry, you are having
troubles. I took my 14 year Old son to the races. He met a bunch of drivers, so great action, even met Collective Soul. Keep things in perspective (it's just a car - you have a kid on the way to share great memories like I just did. Priceless.

Good luck my friend, get ready for the "best day of your life". God bless and enjoy the journey.

My 2010 E350 Sport Sedan just hit 15,000 miles. The battery recently died due to a faulty battery controller. I had to wait 8 days because there were no replacement parts in the US. I also deal with a rattle on the passenger side that has been there from day1. The service folks have taken 3 shots at fixing it. No luck yet. I agree with those who say 'nothing ruins the ownership experience like rattles do'.

They replaced both my front shocks today. I'll let you know if it fixed my rattle. Also, check your glovebox door. The top edge of the door should be felt. It's mating surface should also be felt. I found on mine that a small section on the far right-hand side of my glove box did not have felt where Tge door touched when closed. I put a small piece of felt and the problem was solved.

Good info about the felt. Is it like an adhesive stuck-on felt to the edges of the door and dash (under the wood) where they connect?

The quality of my 2011 E is stunning, it is rock solid. Much better overall than my 2006 E

I guess he doesn't remember the discussions we had or doesn't know the meaning of the word intermittent. I did let my service advisor know that if they don't get it fixed to my satisfaction I will be going to the lemon law - but seriously, does the lemon law apply to 'rattles'?? It's been at the dealer over 21 days since 07July for this problem. How about Audi A7...that looks like a cool car.
Every state has a different lemon law, but in general rattles would not rise to the level of being "lemonable."

If you open the glovebox you will see the that the top lip of the door is just leather/plastic. When you close the door this lip is pressed against the glove box. There should be felt running all the way across the inside of the box where the door pushes up against. For some reason a small part of mine was missing so the door leather/plastic was pressed up against the box plastic. A little strip of felt along the plastic of the glovebox solved a small 'creaking' sound I was getting. This was when I first got the car and I have not heard the problem since I found the culprit.

21 days of grief over a small felt. Glad you found the culprit.

Well, I do not have the problem. . . yet but this is a good thread to keep. It is similar to the BMW creaking solved by nothing but some cheap petroleum gel. Dealerships tried numerous things to no avail.

Oh, this felt has nit solved my most recent problem. I am still waiting to see if
Replacing the front shocks/struts solved that problem.

Silicone spay, felt tape, foam, and WD-40 are your friends in finding and resolving rattles. I had two annoying pops in my E. One of them was a defective seat back frame (diagnosed and replaced by the dealer). The other was actually the more annoying of the two. The was a very intermittent popping sound that would seem to come from underneath the rear seat. It was similar to popping the sides of a beer can. I removed everything and could not find it. Then, one day, I realized the rear setback side bolsters are attached to a plastic bracket mount. At the base of this mount is a single bolt. One side was tight, the drivers side was loose. Since tightening this one loose bolt, no more noises. I would never have guessed the noise was coming from this location. The fix: one and a half turns of a bolt. Noises can be so aggravating.
