COMAND online only in Europe

Is it really true that the COMAND online (internet access and apps within COMAND) is only available in Europe? I read it somewhere in an earlier posting. I am debating whether to go for a 2011 E350 or 2012 E350 and the upgraded engine and COMAND online would be a big plus for the 2012.

Mercedes e350 BlueTec

My guess is that it will be a software update to Comand 4.5 which is the Comand system in the 2012 e350 but that's only a guess. By the way, you might just be able to find Comand 4.5 in a very late build 2011 e350 because Mercedes did a running change (without telling anyone) in July. I just leased a 2011 e350 BlueTec and it has the 2012 Comand 4.5..not the Comand 4.0 that 2011's were supposed to have.
