E 350 4matic instrument lights
I took delivery Last day August. The instrument lights did not come on when the ignition was switched on even with the dimmer fully clockwise.
Dealer tried, thinking there must be a setting somewhere but there is not.
I am about to take it back in when I have one last go at making it work. I happened to pull the dimmer control out & voila I had full instrument illumination with dimmer control.
My question is. Is it that new the dealer (Main dealer in Bellevue WA.) would not know that switch was an on/off by pulling?
Is it meant to do that or have I just got a bad switch? There is no explantion in the manual, it says its a rotary dimmer.
Anybody with a new E350 or maybe even the E550 care to check for me?
It going in tomorrow for 3M 'clear bra' anyway.
BTW not having Xzilon X4. Lots of neighbors beside me retired Boeing or still working there & they assure me Boeing do NOT coat their planes with Grantize or Xzilon!!

No such action on my 2011 E550. Maybe they ran out of switches and borrowed some from the Grundig clock radio assembly line.

Your right ! It didn't work. I was in the garage & the lights switch was at Auto so instrument lights came on.
So back to square one. Why are my instrument lights not coming on when the car ignition is on?
That switch must be faulty in some why too iof I can pull it just like an on/off switch.

Its in the Dealers at the moment. I think I may have an issue with the sensitivity of the Auto sensor since they say the lights on the instrument binnacle are not ON permanently. They are on our SL500. In fact they come on as soon as you open the door!
The loaner I have is a Volvo S60 & it's instrument lights come on when you start he car.
