I just noticed this. Either something is wrong with that picture (or it's a render/touched up), or they changed the front quarter panel/fender.
In our cars, the crease ends BEFORE it reaches the flat surface that surrounds the wheel well. In this render/picture, the crease goes all the way, TOUCHING the actual wheel well. Either someone goofed, or they changed it
. I'm assuming the former, as M-B haven't said anything about this.

Never mind. Did some quick "research", and the fenders are the same. Looks like someone got too cozy with the "paintbrush" in that pic.

The decision had nothing to do with cost; it was for consistency across the MB line-up. In fact, it would have been cheaper to stick with the "hockey stick" design until facelift as development/tooling/testing costs could have been amortized over a greater number of units.

I used to hate the Hockey lights but now that i have an E, i appreciate them compared to the straight ones. When i swap my cab for the wagon in a month, Im sure i will miss the look of the hockey sticks.
