Can the EZ pass be read through the front windshield? Because our 08 s550 could not, we had to get an external tag. Would like to find out before I order a new tag.

Yes it can. Mine is located right under the rear view mirror.

Can the folks that havve mounted their transponder inside the front windshield tell me which side or exactly where on the windshield ? Having held mine up and failed (twice!) this past weekend, I need to get the right spot. I thought there were specific instructions in the owner's manual, but danged if I can find it ! I have the night vision infrared device in the top of mine. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks and regards-

I hold mine up in about the 7 o'clock position close to the rear view mirror. I also have nightvision. Has worked every time for me. I don't know if it truly matters, but I am **** about having the EZ pass facing the right way with the arrows pointing up and on the side that faces the interior of the car. My wife forgets that and has had it not work.

Good video. After watching it, I realized I was in error on saying the 7 o'clock position. I always put it near the top of the windshield, so it would be, I guess, more 9 o'clock like shown in the video (from the driver's perspective). I think the EZ pass instructions also say to have it near the top of the window and not under the mirror, but I got mine 12-15 years ago.

I put my EZ-Pass on the passenger side of the rear view mirror, precisely in the position where the mirror blocks it from my view. Therefore the tag blocks nothing from my view.

It works perfectly for me. Spent $50 on tolls last month!

I know this is off-topic, kinda, but anyone have any idea if/how M-B windshield affects radar detectors? The video was really helpful!

Great info members, and thanks for the video link. I should be all set now. Just have to wait for the snail mailed violation notices from my 2 failed attempts this past weekend! EZ pass does make it relatively easy to dispute theese though, but still a pain! thanks again , and regards

This is because the S-Class are equipped with a SunGate windshield which reduces UV rays entering the car and due to the material being used it also stops radio signals from entering the car. MB actually made a spot in the windshield for EZ-Pass devices which is located at the R/side lower portion of the windshield.
