Real wood?

I can't say how many times automotive-layman people react to my E-Class like it's a $100+K car (i.e, they assume it's the top of the line Benz offering).

Probably 99% of people in US cannot tell the difference between a $40,000 M-B and a $200,000 one. Personally, I can only tell difference between a sedan, a coupe, a convertible, an SUV and a sports car. Even then, I can't differentiate among them.
2. I think the wood inside the E350 im getting looks cheap/fake.
3. I think that people who sit in a MB with mb-tex assume its leather just because its a Mercedes, my c300 had mb-tex.. The look wasnt bad, it just wasn't nice and soft as compared to "real leather"
The only time Mercedes ever used fake wood was in the original ML320 in 1998 and 1999. I wish they wouldn't polish it so much though, makes it look phony. Matte wood was an option at one time in various Mercedes models, but it seems it has vanished in the U.S. except for oddly enough the C-Class Coupes.
