Strange Noise from E550
Hey guys,
I just picked up a new '11 E550 last week and had a few questions about the car. Every time I turn the car off and get out and lock it, something in the rear of the car (I am guessing the exhaust) makes a strange sound, as if its letting out a puff of air or something. This may sound crazy, but it sounds exactly like Darth Vader taking off his mask. For example, the sound from 0:20 to 0:27 in this video is exactly what I hear, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GSyb06rgO3s. I've had quite a few different mercedes, and never heard this crazy sound before. Anybody know? or am I

Yep. My kid says the car is farting.
Wait until you sit in a seat with one foot on the ground and the car starts moving. It freaked me out because I thought the car was about to roll away. But it's just the airmatic adjusting the height of the car for your weight.

This suspension is designed to keep car level to the groud constant regardless of you driving speed.
Driving generates down force, which pulls the car down. The Air Matic pumps more air in the pneumatic springs (or shocks) to maintain car height.
When you stop driving and turn car off it is natural for thre car to lower itself down to the normal height as when you stopped the car raised up due to more pressure in the springs while driving and the down force going away.
