Tire Size Question

First off im new to the forum and would like to say Hello to everyone.
This is my first Mercedes, My parents(and Sisters) always had a Mercedes since i could remember but this is my first personal Benz

I have a 2010 E350 4Matic. The stock tire size's are 245/40/18(18" AMG wheels). I have a set of Winter tires in my garage that are 245/45/18, I was wondering if there would be any problem installing them? Obviously my ODM will be a little off but is there anything else to worry about besides that?
How are the Stock Pirelli's in the snow with 4Matic?

Thanks a lot

There are several issues here. The overall diameter is almost 1 full inch larger so the tires may rub on suspension components, bits of the frame or the body.

The speedometer would read about 62 when you were actually going 60 and, since this is technically odometer tampering, you may have warranty woes.

Odometer tampering is one of the few things that may cause a manufacturer to void your warranty.

Your right,I just did a tire calculation on 1010Tires and the difference is much more then i had thought.Don't think clearence would be an issue but everything else is off too much. Maybe I'll find a set of Snowtires

Yep, 5% of 245 is quite a bit - almost a half inch.

On an upside, if stuff clears then you'd get a half inch more ground clearance and a bit more cushioning for potholes. The taller and more flexible sidewall would give you more winter handling too.

I always use this calculator as a guide. Staying within 3% of original rolling diameter is a very good guideline.

245/45/18 is 3.64% larger in diameter.

Fixed it for you

Most reputable tire dealer/manufacturers will recommend not deviating more than about 1%.
