From now on I'm just wearing a nappa leather jumpsuit, so anything I sit on has a buttery leather seating surface.

Ok, couldn't resist when I got the e-mail message.
Agree vinyl is better if transporting animals, cargo ect. But I keep a older Maxima for those duties - with Leather that still looks great.

Of course you could wear a vinyl jumpsuit so anything you sit on has a hard and petrolchemical aroma to it.

2012 E-350 Sport
OK everyone, my vinyl driver side lover cushion on 2012 E-350 Sport after couple of years of very lite use ( in and out once per day) started cracking or separating at the seam on both; inner and outer bolsters. My previous MB vehicles, eight total were all leather and never experienced any seating surface issues. My wife 2014 ML-350 driver seat lower cushion started doing the same thing. Thread perforations are stretching and cracking on the outer bolster seam. I weight 175lb and she 140lb. Should we loose some weight to extend lifespan of MB seats? The Mercedes Benz vinyl is not like the vinyl they used a couple of decades ago. They are using a very cheap, low quality vinyl now. If you do not want to replace seating surface every 2-3 years stay away from MB-Tex and get real leather!!!. I'm so sorry that I was inpatient and bought both vehicles of dealer's lot instead of ordering.Thanks.

2012 E350
I noticed a tearing similar to wilanow56 on my driver's seat as well.. not as much, just one tear but I do agree on it being poor quality.. Only had the car for 2 years and 3 months.

EDIT: is this covered under warranty? I kind of feel bad to bring this in because I really only have 1 small tear..

My 2008 and now my 2012 seats are fine. I weigh 250#. Maybe MB had a bad batch of seat vinyl? I wonder if its only the black material?

My 2010 E350 had cracks in the driver's seat MB-Tex. Repaired under warranty.

2014 E550 Coupe and 2010 E350 Sedan
My 2010 E350 MB-Tex looks brand new, and matte as day one.
I just picked up a 2014 E550 Coupe which comes with leather standard. Honestly, I'd rather have the MB-Tex. It just always looks new.

Interesting. I had similar problems when I had leather, but no problems at all with MBTex after well over four years. In and out 4-6 times per day. Appears to me that you have some other kind of issues, especially on cars that are barely two years old and brand new.

I agree. I just traded my 2010 E350 4Matic. The MBTex looked great. My last few cars had leather and the driver's seat and the bolster on the driver's side always looked worn after a few years. I too was prejudiced about the MBTex when I bought the car. The stitching and seam work was well done. My new car has MBTex.
